Hello Good sir just jumping into the conversation but here's a suggesting. The Scientific Revolution which brought about modern science was a result of people such as Galileo and Sir Francis Bacon using their "god given brain". That is a quote from Galileo, in terms they where trying to discover god's universe. Also the only repression that science received was from 16th century wounded, corrupted Catholic hierarchy because they thought it would hurt their power.

TL; DR Science and Religion are freinds. in the words of Albert Einstein " Man finds God behind every door that the science is able to open"

Assuming that civiliazation would have taken such a drastic leap is absolutely ridiculous. In fact, I bet the only basis for your statement is Family Guy.

Therefore, let me tell you that most scholars agree that without the existence of religion, humanity may never have come this far. This evidence can be seen at the dawn of our civilization when great monuments were built for the Gods. Religion encouraged billions of people throughout our history.

If you would stop acting like such a self-righteous teenage brat and learn to think critically, you might not make such ignorant comments.

so you're saying the oppression of science throughout history, such as the catholic inquisition, would make no difference on how science advances? you take out religion and you take out thousands of years of 'critical thinkers' being forced to never pursue their scientific abilities and improve the world. instead, you've got a meathead general barking at a fleet of armed men to kill other people because they have a different God. You sir, are an arrogant, cynical, elitist snob.
