Amnesia is about not knowing shit all and then figuring out as you go along, then discovering "Hey, Daniel is actually quite a bit of a douche"

Being oblivious is the game, hence the title "Amnesia"

You like totally different game to what Amnesia actually is, just because it's not you're type of game does not make it bad, or bad information

Also, I'll point you to my original post: I said nothing about the quality of the actual game (though I do have a problem with the gameplay, running and hiding isn't my shit). I simply stated that I greatly dislike the characters. It's actually a boon to how despicably they're written, it's just the way the game presented these things that's lackluster. It's too stark of a contrast to the events that unfold beforehand and it happens too suddenly, in a way that can undermine the past achievements you've made.

Also the plot for the core game is fucking stupid.

It's meant to be a dark game where everyone is a prick and no one is this amazing good guy, they never set that up anywhere

And Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is the next installment of the amnesia series

All games aren't all pretty and bright, it's a story of one guy that is tricked into being a massive dick for fear of his life, and then wanting revenge for what he got made to do

The other one is just about a psychotic girl who wants to do experiments for shits and giggles essentially, your rage would be warranted if the game actually tried to set up Daniel or Justine as heroic good people that have never done wrong in their life, but it doesn't

Once again, a game doesn't need to be all heroic and goody main characters to be a good game

I'm not saying the game lied to me. I'm saying that the revelation that my character was a total fuckwad at the tail end of the games is a kick to the jaw. By all means, there are excellent games out there where you play an asshole, and those are awesome (Destroy All Humans, No More Heroes), but with those games it's forthcoming. You don't spend most of the game oblivious and then are hit with "btw your character's a twat" after you've taken them through their trials and worried about their safety (there's something to be said for the first person perspective here).

Just because I don't like being ambushed with bad information doesn't mean I can't handle a dick for a protagonist. They should have just presented it better.
