Which is true. But, 1: she might not live in America; 2: who really wants to get CPS or some other entity involved when it can be avoided? That's just a load of stress and if they deem that she be returned to her mother, then she's gonna have hell to pay for it with this kind of parent.
Forgive me though if there's another means by which to get out of this legally other than CPS or something. I don't live in the US, just going off what I've seen.

For the poor with a marginally gifted child with no motivation? Yes, there are difficulties. For a child smart enough to design an actual hydrogen fuel cell? No, that's pure lazy writing. The teachers would have seen the corrections Lex made and seen the boy is obviously intelligent and paying attention the principal wouldn't have just said "Duur, yur kid is dum."
If the father submitted the design to any number of research companies and it panned out they would've paid for Lex to intern AND go to a private academy if it meant getting this mega-genius working for them. Nope, it's lazy writing through and through.

Or in reality the system would be that teacher would have gotten jealous, because the kid had more potential in that age that he ever would have and he would have gotten ashamed and framed that he was stupid...

book three was much better than the other two. the skipping around from villain to villain kind of lost me. its because of this that i feel like korra is not as good of a character as aang. she has no defined goal or quest. i feel like people of all ages can identify with aang, but korra's character is more geared to young teens, because she is still finding herself much like the target audience.

Friction fucks everything.
Lets assume that the water is easily replenished, maybe by rainwater. Also, you wouldnt need to take all of the energy, if it is "infinite energy" then you could just you part of it.
Im not really sure about any of this stuff because I have never been any good with science or anything science related so dont think im arguing with you.

Except you aren't dealing with "infinite energy", you're dealing instead with a 100% efficient system. This system, without outside intervention or influence, should have a constant total energy content, but this content is definitely finite. Also, by making the system not closed (not sure if open is the right word) by adding rainwater, you pretty much discount it from being a 100% efficient system since more kinetic energy is being added by the rainwater. And it's cool, we're all here to learn.
