yeah this is why I try not to rant to much, I tend to over do it. Sorry.

Your opinion is yours, and you're entitled to it - just like I'm allowed to disagree with it and counter your argument. And I've gotta give at least a small answer for that much speech, since it look like it took you a minute or two.

First of all, MAL - I'm not saying it's statistics are useless, but you gotta understand that a rating system like that has an ingrain amount of bias. People can abuse it, people can poison the numbers, people can make separate accounts to upvote or downvote certain shows, etc. And you have people who overvalue the popular shows and see anything rated below 8 as unwatchable. Of course, you have shows/manga that deserve their ratings (case in point, Steins;Gate, Clannad, HakoMari, whatever) but you really have to take things like that with a grain of salt. As for the shows content - it's exactly what it was supposed to be, a bunch of cute girls wanting to be idols to save their school, hence they do idol things. The creators of the show (or the manga, I don't actually know the original material in this case) literally went out of their way to make a show as much about the idol fantasy as they could which is what it is. There are plenty of those choreographed dances and songs - which plenty of people do enjoy, hence the 'popularity'. Personally I thought the dances were cute, as long as they didn't go too much into that weird dance style, where as the songs were catchy enough for me to enjoy listening to them a few times. As for the characters - well they all have their specific traits, and yes they're all heavily moefied, but I think they have enough depth to be interesting on themselves - if I had any major complaint about Love Live, it'd be that having a rather large main cast means each individual character does not have as much depth as some of the others (e/g Nozomi, who only really gets one episode surrounding her) but I felt they were all fleshed out enough to be individuals, who I can all name and explain their character traits off the top of my head. Nico and Maki are definitely stands out, which is why the pairing is so popular (well, also to do with the fact that people love double tsundere pairings) and it's because they've got those strong, glaring personalities that make them more interesting than the rest.

As for wasting 12 hours of your life... well honestly that's your own fault. As an avid anime watcher you should have followed the 3 episode rule - if you don't enjoy an anime after the first 3 episodes, don't feel the need to watch it. Less is too little watching time to get a solid opinion of it, too many is just forcing yourself into something you don't enjoy.

Oh, and I feel like comparing it to K-On is wrong. K-On really is a show that just personified the over moeing of a show, and not enough actual content. I mean if you compare the number of songs Love Live has over K-On in less episodes... well I mean the answer is obvious

Tl;dr I disagree with your opinion, but you're allowed to have it. Love Live is a fun show folks, but if you get bored after 3 episodes, don't watch it!
