So when the length of time America was in the war doesn't fit your argument its not brought up? I thought we missed half the war the fractions should be much lower. Of course you had more deaths the axis was wiping the floor with you.

Not exactly When the Americans joined the war effort, they were still using the tactics that the French and the British were using at the start of the war but were phased by the time of US arrival, also there was influenza which hit at the end of the war killing up to 5% of the world's population.
WW1 was not like ww2 there was no floor wiping, it was a giant meat grinder that didn't move all that much over the 4 years.
Correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure that just under half of your combat losses were from Influenza, which explains why the fractions are much higher than you would expect.
