@onehandclap I suppose you're right. I'm still young so its only to be expected I still want more. Hopefully I'll be satisfied by then.

@kazene One of the things that scares me most is the fact that no matter what we will die. The problem with it is there's no guarantee to an afterlife, and if there is I doubt I get to take any of my memories with me. I'm scared to death of the possibility that when I die I'll be truly dead and gone. The idea of my nonexistence for an eternity I can't even wrap my head around makes me feel like there is no meaning of life and as if my life has no purpose, and that terrifies me, and keeps me up at night sometimes...

It happens to everyone. We all get to thinking like that. But thats the glory of death, it's the greatest mystery of all. So many questions, so many wonders and there's only one way to find out. I'm in no way suggesting suicide fuck that cowardly bullshit but to me I view it as the final test of life. Or the first step of the after life. It's just another adventure waiting to happen.

I don't understand how anyone could ever be satisfied. There are more experiences to be had now more than ever. There's a near infinite number of things to learn and feel and we have been born into a time of great potential. There are more degrees and trades skills than any person could ever learn. There are more people and potential friends than I could ever meet. There are too many good games and movies and tv shows than I could ever see. There's been a boom in technology in the last hundred years that has led to all these amazing things! And yet he's satisfied?

And yet I'm sitting here on the internet lol

He doesn't like watching anything other than sports on TV, he's skilled in a multitude of trades, welding, machining, woodwork, culinary arts, all his friends are dead. He's traveled the world and met and interacted with many different cultures. Now he reads books and builds puzzles and watches football. Still mows his own lawn and drives to the store. He's just bored. Plus grandma isn't around so he's pretty lonely, even though we visit every week.

Come back when you are 100 and we'll see where you're at.

Some people just want to pursue different things in life and find happiness in what they accomplish. Death is something that is necessary and unavoidable. Human life has been extended to a point that many in the past would have considered unimaginable yet there are people like onehandclap's grandpa who go past a century. We shouldn't fear death, rather, we should forward to it and try to find comfort that those we know and love are in a better place if you believe in a Heaven. If not, don't know what to tell ya. . Sure there are things we'd really like to do but I mean a person doesn't have to experience EVERYTHING. We just need to enjoy what time we have.
