unless I am completly wrong and I don't think I am we quit the war, in fact after the tet offensive we had demolished the vietcong (besides some pockets of resistance) and seriously fucked up the vietminh. If we had stayed in the war just a bit longer we would have won and Vietnam would be a republic. Though we did take a beating in the war, mainly because we didn't understand guirrella (not sure of spelling) tactics like we do now.

Not really. We lost, but we didn't lose because of an almighty NVA enemy. We had bullshit policies in the war and no support from home, you can't fight a war like that. The casualty rates tell you who was really better.
