So what? A fanbase is still a fanbase. What. Now you're being the jerk who hates on Justin Bieber because the internet has told you to? You're strongly implying that the fanbase is wrong for liking him.

All of the double standards.

I have nothing wrong with Justin Bieber, I'm just saying people buy into gimmicks more easily today, not saying JB idn't talented, I respect him, but back when Lil Wayne became popular, people like real hip hop, not the commercial shit it's become today.

Hip Hop>hip hop>rap=pop

Now Lil Wayne makes commercial rap songs that stisfy some pop audiences, when Lil Wayne started, and for most of his career, he made Hip Hop songs, and they were good, even KRS-One praised him.

Hip hop is rap, hip hop is not pop, rap is not pop. Rap is NOT popular. What the heck is the difference between Hip Hop and hip hop? Is that some self-made definition of the music genre or what? Pretty sure there's only one term.

Oh boy, here we fucking go again.

Look, Lil Wayne was great in his prime. IN HIS PRIME. I say it and I mean it, because I thought he was pretty good back in his days too.
But he decided to become a sellout. LIKE EVERY RAPPER DOES EVENTUALLY.

Lil Wayne only got called the greatest rapper alive, because he himself, shoved that belief down everyone's throats, untill eventually it stuck.

He became more interested in just putting things out there, instead of putting out quality material. He became interested in just being relevant. And if you think about it, he has done a great job at staying relevant.
I mean, say what you want, but he's a clever business man and while music IS a subjective matter, Lil Wayne preys on the stupid masses that just don't know any better. And he almost openly mock the people who buy his music.

And who cares if something goes platinum in a week? That's not what makes an album memorable.
High album sales doesn't necessarily make it a good album.

But like alot of things, music is a matter of opinion. And everyone has different opinions on what good music is. So who are we to judge them? Just let them be.
User avatar #90 - onceman (03/21/2013) [-]
I rarely ever listen to his new commercial stuff, and I know he's a genius at business, that guy really can sell anything he wants. But I don't support him by means of buying his stuff, I don't have any Lil Wayne merch or CD's, I only have illegally downloaded music. I believe that if he concentrated and really wanted to, he can show his potential. But he's far, SO far from being the worst rapper/muscician now or ever.
User avatar #60 - sliske (03/21/2013) [-]
In his prime he was still just a mediocre rapper spouting the same used up bullshit rhymes that every other rapper does.
#52 - ftsfts (03/21/2013) [-]

User avatar #53 - onceman (03/21/2013) [-]

I can't speak for his old stuff, but as he is now, he sucks. The only recent song I know of that's actually good is that one collab he did with Eminem, and it's good because Eminem is in it. Everything else is pretty bad. But, I'm not much into rap anyway, so meh.

#73 - HolyArachnid (03/21/2013) [-]
I don't think he's as utterly godawful as a lot of people say, but I do think he's come to embody a whole lot of what's wrong with the state of rap. He's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is - for a man who has openly called himself "the greatest alive", he resorts to corny, pseudo-profound punchlines way too often for comfort - and the more popular he's gotten, the more he's catered directly to all of the wannabe-gangsta suburban kids, who have no business acting hard at all. I will admit, though, that he has far more raw talent as a rapper than the likes of Soulja Boy, Brick Squad, and White Girl Mob.
User avatar #77 - onceman (03/21/2013) [-]
Agreed, he's very commercial now, and has mostly weak songs, and he's not the greatest alive. (even if KRS-One said he is) I really like his old stuff, and try to avoid his new shit, Weezy Baby is far different from Tunechi, and yes I can list a bunch of rappers way worse than him.

Jesus Christ you're fucking stupid.

I just read through the comments, and not a SINGLE PERSON said the pictures were from Canada or anywhere else. All they said is that it's snowing in their part of the world.

How about instead of calling someone else stupid, you take a good long look in the mirror.
