Something that doesn't make sense to me is why does a hell exist (In the Christianity at least) if god forgives anyone who begs for it? Why wouldn't someone just beg for forgiveness once they see hell and immediately poof the heaven?

you don't have to follow gods will exactly you just have to conform to a widely accepted moral and ethical code. the reason for hell is so that bad people can understand the suffering they caused others.

But what about slavery? I think we can all agree owning another person and making them properly is wrong but in the bible it not only says it's okay, but it gives you guidelines on how it's supposed to be done (None of which are humane) there are also things like all women have to be virgins until marriage or they are to be stoned, you're not allowed to get tattoos, or touch pigs, and if you rape a woman she has to marry you and you must give her father 50 pieces of silver.

With things like this in the bible who's to say what is morally just by god? Now if you're saying that all you have to do to get into heaven is be a generally nice person to people and don't rape, kill, steal, or generally fuck people over, I completely agree, that should be it, but where does the ethical code stop being divine and start being human tampering?

Those are all old testament my niggah Jesus said they no longer apply. the ethical and moral codes given by jesus are what we are supposed to go by which are very similar to the ones given by buddha and they are easy to follow because they feel right and promote peace and goodwill to all . I don't know if human tampering is the right word it's more like a guide or instructions on the best path to take as you travel through life whether or not you take it is up to you .

I may not be a Christian, but I love Jesus's teachings (Thomas Jefferson wrote a book called "The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth" which was a fantastic book that was basically the Bible minus the mystical stuff) because they were so simple and loving. It's sad that most Christians don't follow that stuff, they like to pick and choose what is and is not in the bible (Both old and new)

I think there are certain things that God won't forgive even when you're at the pearly gates. If you murder people and show no regret on Earth, I don't think you'll get in, but if you do and try to show people on Earth that you regret it, God will forgive you.
