Absofuckinglutely. If I decide to steal a car I should be terrified the owner will shoot me dead in the street. If I break into someone's house I should expect to be killed on sight without question. If I ever attempt to harm someone in any way they should be allowed to retaliate in every way possible.
Additionally, there should be no reason why someone can't carry a gun with them everywhere. You'd find it very hard to rob a gas station when the cashier has a shotgun under the counter and every customer has a pistol ready to be pointed at you.

Think about it: if NOBODY had a gun how would you rob a gas station? Right you couldn't either since the other people just will kick your ass and nobody dies.
Also you wouldn't have these accidents where children shoot up their siblings or a bar fight getting out of hand with gun fatalities afterwards because, you know, nobody has guns. Nobody having guns (except police duh) is safer compared to everybody having guns just think about it.

I stand behind our justice system completely. But it can only respond so quickly and can't protect everyone all the time. For example: Those 12 people who were shot at the intersection on Mother's Day this year. If one other person in that intersection had a weapon they could have responded immediately and reduced the death toll to maybe 3 or 4. It's great that law enforcement has the ability to track and pin down criminals to bring them to judiciaries. But if we could stop the crime as it's happening then we should be given the means to. Same with the school shootings. If one of the school DJ 4DM1Nistrators were carrying a weapon they might have prevented such a massacre. I have nothing against governments and their current means. But when there's no one in uniform to save you, why shouldn't you be ready and able to defend yourself? Many people get off of crimes through loopholes and technicalities as well. Fuck that! If we KNOW someone killed 10 people why bother with the Miranda rights? In my opinion you have no rights after you've committed that crime.

That is not morally complex! The guy did horrible things and he got punished for them, plain and simple. So what if it was civilians and not the legal system that punished him? If someone deserves to be punished why argue about who should do the punishing? If someone is terrorizing the neighborhood, beat the shit out of him! If I watched someone shoot my mother it would never cross my mind to wait for the cops to catch him. I'd gun that motherfucker down or get myself killed doing it.

You, sir, are incorrect. His fate was forced upon him by vigilantes, and was by no means justified. Your comment can be compared to "guilty until proven innocent" logic.
As an American attorney, I am actually well-acquainted with this story as it is often spewed throughout law school in introductory Criminal Law courses.
The man pictured above is Ken McElroy, and is often characterized as suffering from an undiagnosed form of mental illness. Although the accusations were made, and some minor charges DJ 4DM1Nistered, none of the acts the town considered to be "vile" were actually illegal.
Furthermore, the town itself was Skidmore, a large town in Missouri with an alarmingly high rate of violent crimes, most of which being murder.
For more information, please visit the wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_McElroy
Or there was a 60 Minutes special also dedicated to the unusual circumstances of McElroy's murder.
PS: For those interested, McElroy's murder is often used to contrast two legal ideas of criminal law: namely, that there ought to be a system to regulate, or that the people themselves are the best regulators. McElroy's death is often presented to first year law students.

Normally I would be on your side for this but upon looking in to it I say that this is a rare case where vigilantism was justified.
He was indicted 21 (felonies) times convicted once (though let out on bail). He was a known violent man and being honest a whole town deciding a man needs to die does not just happen. And while i obviously can't prove it the case alone makes it appear that this man most likely did the majority of the things that the town people say he did.
Driven to desperation by the legal system failing in this situation they took matters in to there own hands and decided that he would be held accountable no matter what.
Also I feel that there is one more point to why McElroy's murder is presented in law courses. It is an example of how the legal system only has power so long as the people it is meant to protect maintain faith in it's abilities. In this case the faith was no longer present and the towns decision to refuse to cooperate prevented it from being able to so much as even charge a shooter.

If you are actually I lawyer you are proof that the legal system is a piece of shit. He shot people, threatened to kill them when they survived and terrorized the populace. Its people like you who defend murderers and rapists and all you care about is your bullshit ideals of equality and fair law you ignorant piece of horse manure, now do us all a favor and jump in front of a bus. GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR!

If you're against vigilantes then does that mean you're against the Colombian Pepe's? The vigilante group of high ranking Colombian soldiers that killed the head of a drug cartel which caused it to cripple. In no way was it a military planned mission, just officers seeking and killing a drug lord.
