|#21 - can't we just drown all of the middle east in napalm? please? … [+] (11 new replies)||01/13/2015 on Lovely Religion.||-9|

I'm going to answer all of you at once.
-Why don't we drop nukes on the middle east just like we did with Japan - Kiasa.
Well, this is a pretty simple question for anyone who has taken a history class, been in the military or understands the threat of using a nuclear weapon.
Using a nuclear weapon on another country would force them to band together with other countries
Yap, the US just put a fat one in a city of let's say, Iraq?
Guess what, you just flew over several countries without permission and dropped a nuclear
warhead which could've landed on ANY of the countries you just flew over, what if engine failure would've been the case? "woops, we just nuked Isreal?"
Then we'll be at a nuclear war with EVERYONE IN THE FUCKING MIDDLE EAST.
Pakistan has nukes, Iran would tell the world fuck you and speed up it's process of getting nuclear weapons and everything would go to hell.
Now to answer the Japan thing.
Japan was an overzealous country, trust me. There was more zeal in Japanese soldiers than you'll ever see in a "terrorist" cell, they were ready to die for the Emperor and Japan for "honor".
Let's look at Japan now after the US helped rebuild Japan, it's the third largest economy in the world!
Here's the thing, if you truly wish to eradicate a stupid form of a religion then show the people that there are better ways of living.
Give them a better standard of life! Yeah, it would come out of your pockets but you wouldn't be sacrificing American or European lives for that matter for simple bloodlust!
You don't eradicate anti-Western organizations by bombing them, killing their friends, family and loved ones even if they've done it to you.
No, you show them the taste of the good life and you give them a shot at the good life.
Go ahead and judge all muslims by people who scream Allah Akbar and then blow up a school, I'll show you madmen from all walks of life not just Islam.

Ehrm... Technically most modern rockets (since 60s and 70s...) are able to make suborbital flights.... No plane needed to drob the bomb...

While I understand your point in regards to how Japan turned out pretty damn okay, I feel like introducing a new lifestyle to the radicals that cause chaos wouldn't work because they, you know, hate our lifestyle.
They want to be the ones who have their lifestyle forced on others.

There's a major issue in equating Japan and the middle east. Religion holds no major sway in Japan. Another thing is that Japanese think of themselves as "Japanese", almost to a fault. It's one unified country with people identifying as such. While this is a great engine for war, it in no way supports the creation of extremists.
On the other hand, you have religion being a major presence in the middle east, giving people the excuse needed to kill people they disagree with. Aside from that, a lot of people in the middle eastern countries don't identify with their country, but rather, primarily with a religion, sect, or ethnic group. This makes unifying any country's worth of people nigh impossible. Horrible for waging a full-scale war, but possibly one of the best environments for creating extremists.
As far as I can tell, nobody's going to be able to force the middle east to sober the fuck up and stop killing people. The root cause of extremism is their conviction they have in their religions. Like you said, there are madmen from all walks of life, but historically speaking, religion has been a constant spawning pool of them. How do you deal with that? Nuking would probably make the whole situation worse. However, trying to give them something good that they don't even want is just a waste of our time and money. Religion, by its very definition, is the opposite of logic and reason. How do you deal with that?
#195 - cackrel (01/14/2015) [-]
Ok then how come people from Saudi Arabia aren't all "Allah Akbar" when they're mostly governed by Wahabi which is the same sect as Al kaida and ISIS etc?
Is it maybe because they live a deccent enough live's?
What atheist neckbeards don't realize in their "hurrdurrr religion is bad".
Is that for some people it's a huge part of their lives because their entire life they've lived the shitiest lives possible, why do you think when the middle east was " okay " from the 1890s up until 1950's 1960 ish.
If you give men who might consider a goat to be a luxury three goats then they'll worship you.
Not their god or gods.
#337 - freedomiii (01/19/2015) [-]
So the equation that you've made apparent is:
religion + shitty circumstances = religious extremists
Your point (correct me if I'm wrong) is that the "shitty circumstances" part of the equation is missing for Saudi Arabia, and thus the lack of religious extremism.
My point is that if you remove "religion" from that equation, no matter how many "shitty circumstances" you add to the equation, you can't get "religious extremists".
#338 - cackrel (01/19/2015) [-]
Dude, I'm not saying that religion + shitty circumstaces = religious extremists.
I'm saying that shitty circumstances ( some you can't even imagine ) + insanity = terrorist.
Hell, even just insanity = terrorist. Due to the fact that not all acts of terror are based upon religion which a lot of people these days think it is.
#339 - freedomiii (01/19/2015) [-]
Is all terrorism religiously driven? Definitely not. Are the vast majority of cases modern terrorism religiously driven? Yes. Removing these would drastically reduce terrorism around the world.
As for your argument that even just insanity can lead to terrorists, though I agree, I ask you this simple question: what is the belief of unverifiable things by vast swaths of a population if not insanity?
#340 - cackrel (01/19/2015) [-]
OK so you are a tip fedora neckbearder.
Here's the thing.
What about Breivik?
What about the Irish terrorists?
And second of all Europeans turning racist against Muslims (brown people) is stupid, due to he fact that most terrorism happens in Palestine, Syria and other countries that are underdeveloped.
You believe that religion in it self would decrease terrorism due to the fact that they scream Allah etc
When they commit these heinous acts.
But do you honestly believe that if all religion would go out the window that people wouldn't find some reason
to commit acts of terror?
Religion isn't the cause of terrorism, the lack of education is.
The taliban, Al'Kaida and other groups came up on the surface when Russia invaded Afghanistan and the US
actually funded them yap, they funded these groups to fight the "communist" death machine.
So before you just point your finger and say " religion !! Religion!! " then look at their history and
make the decision before hand because saying that all religion is bad is just simply ignorant.
#341 - freedomiii (01/19/2015) [-]
"...the lack of education is." Seems people had the same train of thought.

bazda is correct, its a second set of quillions, and the space between the first and second set are usually dull so that you can hold your blade by that section in use for thrusting or for a throwing cut, it can also be used to bind from a distance allowing more manipulation of your opponent
#371 - bazda (01/12/2015) [-]
I reckon it was to act like an extra guard, to stop a blade sliding down onto your hands. Also, the part between the spikes and the hand guards wasn't sharpened, I'm guessing so that it could be used as a handle when necessary, for extra leverage or something.
That's 100% speculation, but that's what I would guess.

"We're trying open world in our next zelda game!"
"Look! Everyones been asking for star fox after all these years, so its back!"
"We bought bayonetta to try something new!"

"We've made a new IP called Splatoon!"
"We're changing how people interact with games slightly with amiibos!"

"you know? the seamlessness of windwaker was really popular. maybe we should do that again?"
"look! everyone has been asking for metroid after we let team ninja team ruin it, so lets make a starfox game!"
"be bought bayonetta because it was more popular than we though it would be and fuck the non-casuals who doesn't own the Wii-U"
"we know that final fantasy is shit and we have realized that 14 tries have not made us any better so we decided to fix the problem by changing the name and making the combat even worse! who knows? maybe it will work this time"
"we did the same thing valve did when they had portal made and hope it works. it fits because it was the gel parts of portal 2 that inspired the game" (i admit that this might actually be a fun game but i will deem it a mayfly because 1: the Wii-U controller is shit for any sort of fast phased game-play 2: i am pretty sure people will become bored with it after a week.)
"you know those ugly miniatures that are the rage among kids on toys r us? couldn't we squeeze more cash out of the little shits if we made those? BRILLIANT!"
"nintendo is totally a innovative games company who only want the best for the players and are totally not a casuals only company. now excuse me while i go and play for 3 hours on my Wii-U before the tea-tray i call a controller runs out of battery"

This! I'd rather go out this way, than having my goddamn lungs burnt to the point I cannot breathe anymore.
Its like falling asleep, with a beautiful sense of warmth and well-being.. Then if someone sees you and gets the Wambulance there in time, then absolute panic when the paramedic sticks the naloxone in your arm, then you throw up violently and feel like death
