It did, but it didn't in plenty of other places, idiots ignorant of history like to forget that. Saying it was a biological imperative is stupid.

Get on my level.
User avatar #288 - haseotakaeda (07/05/2013) [-]
That's not the point
the point is we've evolved past the time when we needed religion in our lives
User avatar #289 - infinitereaper (07/05/2013) [-]
Do you honestly think religion evolved as a need in the first place?
User avatar #290 - haseotakaeda (07/05/2013) [-]
Yes.
Yes and no. You're right that it comes from culture and nature but we looked to nature to find something greater than ourselves during those times and we evolved into that state
It's different now.
User avatar #243 - omnomnominator (07/02/2013) [-]
I'd argue it was more a psychological imperative, if humans always believed that there was no reason to live and nothing when they die, everyone would go mad and it'd be chaos.
User avatar #245 - infinitereaper (07/02/2013) [-]
No it wouldn't. See this is the atheist bullshit I'm talking about, and I'm an atheist.

Religion derives from culture, usually based upon nature. The moon, the stars, the seasons, which just happened to evolve into forms of theism we know today. Legends and such are similar and you have to remember organized religion didn't exist for a long time, for this claim to be correct religion as it's definable today would have had to existed from all time in a similar form, but it did not. And evolution doesn't happen that fast. Religion is like burial. Its not from religion, its just us.

People like religion to put their minds at ease, however, there is no way in hell what Dawkins said is correct.

Its too fucking stupid.

And even then, in most places a lie detector will not be held as evedence in trial because they can be cheated by the right psycho mind. There is a lot of room for error with this kind of thing.
