Maybe. I don't know the science of it. But supernatural properties could mean anything. He's God. He makes His own rules.

there we have it.

that's why you can't argue with theists.

no matter what amazing argument an atheist can bring up, "God makes his own rules" beats absolutely everything.

Well yea, I shouldn't have even had to say that, as it pretty much speaks for itself. But this was never an argument. We both knew that going in. This was just an exchanging of ideas, with no attempt by either of us to convert the other to our own belief. I don't know what you were expecting.

>all scientific and philosophical arguments here still relate to religion

Ya, I am aware that all the arguments here pertain to religion. I would just like to have a board where we can talk about science oriented topics and whatnot rather than religion.
I need variety in my life. I'm a needy person.
User avatar #9963 - jokeface (02/08/2013) [-]
Are you implying that having a board that caters to both theists and atheists is confusing? At least there are only two major groups consistently represented. Imagine if we had all the religions repped. Would you want a separate board for all of them as well?
User avatar #9968 - omnomnipotent (02/08/2013) [-]
A single board for theology/religion is fine.
All I'm asking for is a science/philosophy board as well.
User avatar #9971 - jokeface (02/08/2013) [-]
Any philosophy that subscribes to a deity would be relevant to a religion board. The fact that you want to deviate from that indicates that the determining factor for your philosophies is the lack of a deity. So don't sugarcoat it. You want an atheism board. That's perfectly understandable. I can imagine being overwhelmed by a prevailing notion that we're a Created race of beings. The only problem is, that's not the case. Most of the religion board is, ironically, atheist. At least, it would appear that way. I don't know how many lurkers are theists but those of us who speak on here regularly are severely outnumbered. Aside from Zlamous, Teoberry, and myself, I can't even think of any others off the top of my head. Teoberry's not even that outspoken. So why would you want a separate board when this one is already so close to home for you?
User avatar #10088 - teoberry (02/09/2013) [-]
I should be a bit louder. It's just that I don't like all this philosophical shit, I like facts more.
User avatar #10094 - jokeface (02/09/2013) [-]
Well facts are hard to nail down when you're talking about these kinds of topics, I'm afraid.

Lol, well actually I'm Pantheist, not some smelly atheist jk.
I do really enjoy the talks and arguments on this board, but like I said, I would like to see a stricter science board where people could share and discuss technological advances/ideas/theories/snozzberries and all that stuff. I mentioned philosophy because there are a lot of scientific concepts apart from religion that would be discussed, too.
User avatar #9974 - jokeface (02/08/2013) [-]

I believe God lifted the water off of Earth into space. This may also explain the craters on the moon; the frozen flood water would have been traveling at a high velocity and could have created enough force to make indentions on the surface of the moon

If such a board existed, all that would happen is the atheists would occupy it to talk shit about theists, and the theists would occupy this one to talk shit about atheists, and every once in a while members of each groups would troll the rival board. With just one board, both parties are forced to be civil with each other for the sake of the board.

Yes, I fucking do recommend all 3 Mass Effect titles, along with all their dlc as well (that's important). Play them all in order, every fucking main mission and side quest. Everything you do affects the next game when you start it.
Also ME1 starts off pretty slow, just give it time.
