My high school had a substitute teacher who could list on a moment's notice every country in the world in some continental order. I think it was a bit outdated, but it was still pretty damn impressive.

"Play time" is considered the time from when the ball is snapped to when the play is blown dead. There are, on average, about 130 plays per game. Each play, from time of snap to time of the play being blow dead, averages about 6-7 seconds. So 6.5 * 130 is about 845 seconds or roughly 14 minutes of "playing" time

Exept that the clock keeps running in between plays, wiseguy. It only stops when a player goes out of bounds during the last 5 minutes or for an incomplete pass.

So yeah....

i took it to mean cheer for everyone on the child's team, rather then just cheer the child's name when something goes right

I think you are missing the point and trying to politicize it. It's not about encouraging tied games and free passes. If a kid makes a good play, encourage them with cheers, regardless. Kids love positive reinforcement, and how many better reasons are there to give it than doing well at sports? On the obverse, instead of heckling and bitching during the game, take YOUR CHILD aside and give them pointers for an hour if you care about the game so much. I'd rather encourage skills than focus on favoritism and your cutthroat culture of competition.

Normally and in all circumstances I would agree but I was watching test videos for a Jeep grand cherokee where they did the "moose" test. It's just avoiding an obstacle in the road by swerving around it. Nine out of ten times a tire (or two) exploded and more than once the car would have flipped going over 30mph.

We have LOTS of deer on the back roads around my town. If you drive any where for anything, you've probably swerved hard around a deer at least one.

If I can't avoid something like that going suburban speeds then I don't want to die doing 45 on a back road.

No he was former SAS. But he did go through a mini training camp in the French foreign legion for a tv series and killed it. Also still the youngest man to climb Everest, and that was after breaking his back a year earlier in SAS service.

You're totally missing my point here. I think both of them are badass, but Les isn't some kind of inhuman survival beast that can survive on an empty can of beans and a toothbrush
