wearethefire (05/14/2012) [-] The Man in the story was hired to take part in experiments to do with his self conscious, he begins to be able to see his 'double', a figment of his mind that takes the form of himself and no one else can see. At first the double is helpful, acting like the other side of his consciousness picking up on things he wouldn't usually notice. Although after a time it starts to take over his mind, cutting of relations, affecting behavior and appearing without prompt. The creature begins to further take over the mans mind showing him morbid images and causing physical harm to him. He eventually breaks from the creatures grasp and tries to rebuild his life. He then gets a call of his mother informing him of his sister's death at the hands of a serial killer. He attends the funeral and the sounds of his double still linger and suggest that the double has become a physical entity.
