| The thing about Mars is that we have enough fuel to get there but not enough to get back. You also only have an open window every two years where you can launch a rocket and send it to Mars. However, you have to factor in the velocity that the rocket will enter the atmosphere of Mars, whether there will be a storm on the day that you get there, the weight of the ship, and if you have people, then you need to factor in how much predictable weight will be on the craft prior to entry. Then you have to guess how long people will have to stay there. Will they have enough resources to keep them alive, after all they only have a short window before they can return. How will the radiation of the planet's atmosphere effect them? All of these questions are why we have to send rovers and probes to Mars to test it out. By finding water, we can pretty much rest assured that whoever we send there will have some kind of back up water supply in a worse case scenario. The reality is, we're still doing research on how people can survive there because unlike the moon their going to have to spend a lot more time there. Also, going back to the fuel, they're trying to develop better fuel that can potentially cut the time in half. If they can do this traveling to Mars will be a lot more plausible Don't get me wrong, it's not going to be an easy task, but we are advancing further and further every year. The big problem I see is the fuel situation which they are currently developing and testing much more efficient ways, which like you said, would dramatically cut the time down. That's why I see it being a real possibility in say 50 years? 60 years? I don't know honestly but I don't see it as being relatively very far down the road. NASA has plans to go in 2030. Realistically, every 15 years there's an open window where Earth and Mars are aligned, and the trip is only 8 months. The next one is 2018 | ||

| Anxiety is pretty common. The root cause of my anxiety, however, is unusual because it stems from the way I talk. My anxiety comes not from lack of self-confidence, such as what most social anxiety stems from, but the fear that I will be judged by the way I speak. You could call that lack of self confidence, but it's not the lack of confidence in myself as whole, just the way I talk. I have a stutter. Said that in the first comment. I can't just change it. | ||
