You're more than welcome

And, nah; it's generally the same temp all the time, so I simply turn his lamp on medium-low during the night, or if there's a cool draft from a window being open somewhere, that sort of thing. I did have one in the beginning, though. I'd definitely recommend one until you've sorted out any temp issues you might have. [

Actually, since the breeder I used to buy it from has retired from the reptile business, I haven't been able to find the kind mine likes. I've got him on another brand, which he doesn't really like, but will eat when he's hungry. You can but it online at www.store.repashy.com/ they've got quality products

Oh, and Fluker's had some really good plants. And, on another note, if you can find small glass dishes, use those for food and water. I laid down about thirty bucks for mine, and they really weren't worth the money. The water dish is a pain to clean, has some cracks now, and scum builds up pretty quickly. I changed to glass at my sister's suggestion, and it's much better now, and Howie seems to prefer the glass.

Cresties are super easy to look after; Howie, my guy, seems to prefer the Repashy powdered diet reconstituted with dechlorinated water , though for a treat I'll give him something like peach baby food there's a big list of what they can and cannot eat, which is easy enough to find with a quick google search. Many people think that cresties are unable to eat meat, though I've tried mine on a turkey and sweet potato baby food and he adores it. I wouldn't recommend straight meat.

You should always use a water conditioner, added calcium preferred you might get told that you only need the calcium for the females, but trust me, the males will be better off for it , when you prepare the drinking water or bathe him/her bathe the crestie in water slightly warmer than room temperature before holding it until it goes to the bathroom, or else chances are it's going to go on you

Another thing to seriously consider is getting a 20 -30 gallon tank; it'll adore the extra room and you'll likely hear it happily leaping about at night.

Definitely include a hidey-hole of sorts, use cocoanut fibre substrate Petland told me to use this bark mixture, which he ended up ingesting some of. Turns out that can actually kill the little guys. I was then told about the cocoanut fibre, and he seems to be much happier

Mealworms and crickets should only be a treat, as they will fatten a crestie up quickly and their health will suffer. Howie only began eating crickets when he was around four years old, I don't know if that's normal, but thought you might benefit from the info Wax worms and butter worms are also acceptable.

One big thing to remember is that they do get lonely; many people will get pets such as geckos and mainly keep them as something to look at. They will get depressed if left alone too much. Even though they are nocturnal, you can still take them out during the day. Howie loves to chill in the houseplants you've just got to be careful what kind of plant you let them on. Aloe vera, spider plants, and palms are great choices during the day, and sometimes he'll get to go on 'tours' of the place.

You've also got to mist them once a day or so. A heat lamp might be necessary at night, depending on the temperature of your home.

You cannot keep two males together they'll fight to the death , though sometimes you can place two or more females together. You can also put something like an African giant millipede in there, they are gentle and get along well with cresties.

Mine likes music, too, if you get one they'd probably enjoy some tunes as well.

*** Don't burn candles near geckos or birds , nor incense or anything like that as it will destroy their lungs and can cause terrible health problems and/or death

These guys also like to fake you out by pretending that they are dead; they'll breathe so shallowly that it's barely perceptible and will stay perfectly still sometimes even when touched. Mine scared me a bunch of times for the first while that way.

As a last note, they can be bastards; they will sometimes forcefully crap all over you if they're unhappy if you put them straight home, which is often what they seem to want, then you reinforce that by crapping on you they get to go home and it'll probably happen a lot as a result and sometimes as a result of the force they put into it, their hemipenis will pop out and make it seem like their guts have come out of a small tear in the lower abdomen. Nobody had told me about this, and the first time it had happened, I rushed to call the vet and was prepared to dash up there, thinking he'd have to be put down or something

I think that's about it. If you have any questions, ask away!

And where do you usually buy his food? I checked out a pet store recently while Christmas shopping and they didn't have any.

I have digitalized and updated wand design. Went for a more simple wand, with dueling in mind thus the crooked design.

That's pretty cool How long did it take you to make it?
#57 to #56 - psdeath (02/02/2015) [-]
I have no idea, but not too long. Perhaps an hour, perhaps two, tops three. Draw some lines, use bucket, draw more lines, use bucket, fine-tune with single pixel pencil (because I'm a scrub), and fix details. Done.

User avatar #59 to #58 - nyxeos (02/02/2015) [-]
Well, while still awesome, I do have to laugh at the fact that you purposefully described your wand as shooting off prematurely haha. And hey, if you're looking for more to do feel free to make me a wand and I will forever think you're awesome. No pressure though, it'd just be something cool to have.
User avatar #60 to #59 - psdeath (02/03/2015) [-]
The only reason I could do this was because it was simple, but I'd gladly try! Remind me of what wand you've got, and what kind of design you have in mind and I'll try to make something out of it.

Oh and my username is CloakRune13693, if you feel like adding me.
User avatar #61 to #60 - nyxeos (02/03/2015) [-]
11 3/4 inches, Apple wood with unicorn hair core and rigid. I don't have anything in mind really since I'd be happy with anything, but maybe something a little more natural than yours? If that makes sense. I added you, and feel free to message me with more questions if you want more direction, but it's honestly up to you because you're amazing for just doing it haha.
#62 to #61 - anon (02/04/2015) [-]
Man, I will try to work on it but I have realized how bad Pottermore tests are. Reading up on all wood types, I realize how important the personality is, and how little the tests says about your personality. My wand, and my friend's, doesn't fit at all.

In other words, it's better to go through all types of wood, pick a couple which ideal master fits you to at least some degree, ask those who know you the best which one of those fits you best, then make up your mind depending on what they say.

So, with that in mind I discussed with my friends and my family, and concluded that Red Oak or Dogwood fit me best, which means I must re-design my own wand. However, while I do that I'll try to do yous at the same time
User avatar #63 to #62 - nyxeos (02/04/2015) [-]
Well apple does fit me relatively well. I don't consider myself particularly charming, but I get along with anyone. And I do really love animals. Cedar would work really well for me too, as would ash, both because I am really stubborn/loyal (hence the rigid aspect, and even the unicorn core). So you can take what you want from that.

And no worries about my wand. It's completely on your schedule, like I said before I'm just happy to get one, so I don't mind waiting.
