I think "domesticated" is a poor term here, its very easy to see this as friendship or family,
in this case the bear is not wild, it was raised by these people, it understands they are willing to help it and it understands hurting them would be to its detriment, whether out of concerns of easy self-preservation or some form of respect the bear isn't attacking these people and is in some pictures possibly showing them affection.

Normally the problem isn't that large animals hurt something on purpose, but rather that they don't understand how little force humans can withstand.

1 moderate pat from a bear could break ribs, when the bear is just being playful
