The ones that look like black cats but shoot colors and spin are called jumping jacks they are on par with sparklers i think normal black cats are level 2 fire works while sparklers,snakes,jumping jacks, any pretty lights without explosion would be level 1.

I grew up in norfolk and richmond never seen any thing besides sparklers and you had to go to flea markets to find those. NC would have sparklers poppers and jumping jacks in convenience stores. So i can only speak for southeast Va and richmond which is like the middle

Fair enough, although where I live (Burke) isn't too far from Richmond. Anyway, black cat fireworks aren't exclusively the ones that shoot in the air. They're mostly driveway things, the little cylinders that make bright lights. I'm pretty sure professional fireworks are illegal in VA without a licence or something.

you cant get black cats in VA, im not sure about GA i tried to find some for 4th of july and couldnt but i didnt look hard. You can buy them online though in giant packs.

It doesn't matter if it doesn't hurt anyone, its still a sin. Worshiping a false god doesn't hurt anyone but yourself. Suicide doesn't hurt anyone but yourself. Both of those are sins.

Outdated? Please. Yes, clearly some things in the bible, such as certain laws, were meant for a specific time period, but sexual immorality is something that will never go away. Homosexuality is sexually immoral. Will you go to hell for being gay? No. But just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. We should all strive to live in Christ's example.

Because that's all religion is, a system of control spread by word of mouth. Sure it is written down in a book, but if you picked it up off the ground one day and read it, you'd assume it was fiction. If you were to buy a copy of the Qur'an today, you wouldn't convert to Islam.

So are your elders seriously so infallible that you would judge another person for committing a victimless act of love, with no evidence as to why it might actually be bad?

But it is a sin! Why is there so much butthurt about that? Lying is a sin, cheating is a sin, being hateful is a sin, jealousy is a sin and homosexuality is a sin. We do most of those on a daily basis, and we wont go to hell for it if we ask for forgiveness. Same with homosexuality. All sins are equal in the eyes of god.

I just don't understand the butthurt whenever homosexuality is mentioned as being a sin. You can't just cherry pick what sounds like a sin to you for your emotion's convenience.

Here's the thing. Homosexuality is not a choice, you are either born with it, or not. Most people don't understand this and is just hellbent that being gay is a sin. Why would being born gay be a sin, if they had no choice in the matter? Being born, according to Catholic belief is called natural sin.. But that can be washed away by sprinkling some water on the babys head by the priest. As a religious person, you understand that everyone has the right to be happy with whom they are, correct? If someone is gay, they take a husband/wife, shouldn't they be allowed to be happy as well? Instead of a life of misery with someone who they have no sexual attraction towards.

A sin is rebellion against the divine law of God.

If sin amounts to nothing more than rebelling against god, I don't see it as an evil act in and of itself, so calling something a sin has no place in a discussion of ethics and morality.

Well, there's a pretty big difference between 1. lying, cheating, being hateful and 2. Homosexuality. The first group directly hurts another party, and is pretty obviously not a very nice thing to do. You don't need belief to see that. But labeling something as harmless as being homosexual as a sin, is kinda pushing it. I don't see how liking people of the same gender is hurting anyone else. I mean, scripture can say what it wants, but even you have to know how outdated that stuff is.
