| Sigh, wow it's almost like you didn't read a thing I wrote. I do my homework and often do find a better candidate (Like this election, I really wish Paul Ryan ran by himself, I would have voted for him. Or Bush's brother if he ran this year), however I am not voting for the richest, as I said I am making the best out of a bad situation, and not putting a veil over my eyes like you are when taking my vote seriously. I'm not foolish, I am practical. You are delusional in thinking your vote is purely used for the candidate you find is the best, there are other factors to take into consideration, and seeing which candidates are going to be the most influential and attract the most votes is one of those variables. You have alot to learn about the political system mate. I never said they didn't matter, I said they have to be used correctly. | Thinking pragmatically about the situation is what makes you feel sad for me? Explains your thought process though. No the reason there is only two candidates is because not many other sources can create the capital, the experience, or the support it takes to get to the serious level. Do I like that it usually is up to only 2 candidates? Absolutely not, I would love to have a plethora of choices and let someone who has the best ideas win, however the situation would most likely end with the same two people getting the majority of the votes. Sure "the rent is too damn high!" guys would get some votes by people who think it's funny, but otherwise we would have most of the votes condensed to roughley 2-3 people. So no, thinking like me makes the best out of a bad situation and even gets someone into office that can actually get certain things done. I realize I won't have a candidate that completely agrees with me but I can vote for one I share the large issues with. People who vote for third parties are very petty with the fact they say "I know this person won't win but I'll still vote for them" this just enforces their ability to say "I didn't vote for him" when the current president fucks up, but they don't realize they could have used their vote to stop them being elected. /rant. Again, you make me sad... just because these 2 parties dominate the media and have all the money to get on a "serious level" doesn't mean that they have earned your vote. It is your duty as a voter to do your homework and find the best candidate, not the richest. You are still foolish sir. Sigh, wow it's almost like you didn't read a thing I wrote. | Lol I'm not saying you're giving in, I'm saying in the long run all you are doing is taking votes away from one of the 2 possible candidates that is the most relevant to your positions. So fine it's not a waste, a better term is a misuse of your vote. Thinking pragmatically about the situation is what makes you feel sad for me? Explains your thought process though. | Unfortunately voting for them is essentially throwing your vote away when you could vote for the candidate that mostly reflects your opinions of the 2 major competing ones. Essentially yes you're right, unfortunately that's also why people have to make the best out of a bad situation, the whole idea of starting a political revolution and getting more and more people to vote for third party candidates is nice, but it won't happen. Look at Ron Paul, one of the most supported and influential of the candidates outside the traditional 2, and he still didn't come close to having a chance at the polls. Lol I'm not saying you're giving in, I'm saying in the long run all you are doing is taking votes away from one of the 2 possible candidates that is the most relevant to your positions.
