All these people suggesting knives and balanced sticks of hitting things and im just sitting here thinking about those electrified stun batons and cattle prods.

Depends if you want to go to jail or not.

Fuck the police? Then a knife is best close range, even an unskilled fighter with a knife is a threat.

Want more bludgeoning and pain, but less likely to involve jail time? Then a Karambit, Kobutan, knuckle dusters, even a roll of pennies to stop your fist deforming or a short stick or baton. Depends on what you feel comfortable with. In the hands of a skilled fighter, anything can be a deadly weapon.

>Bludgeoning and less jail time.
>Mentions Karambit, a knife.
>Kobutan? Might as well just have a knife in the eyes of the cops arresting you.
>Knuckle dusters? That's a felony in quite a few states.

But on the other hand.
>Coin roll
Yes, these might give you an edge without a full blown felony unless it seems like you packed them with the intent to start a fight. Tire Thumpers are brought to mind, on the list of shit nobody but truckers would have probable reasoning to carry.

How the fuck is stabbing someone with a karambit less likely to get you arrested than a normal knife? And how does it involve more bludgeoning?
It's just a different type of knife

I'm not that guy nor am I an expert in laws or weapons but that blade looks pretty short.... many cities or states have laws regulating blade length.

I'd say the bat the guy is holding is pretty good in this situation. It's short, light and hard. The big dude was in obvious pain after getting smacked for a while, thats why he jumped in, it was more of a struggle than a strategy. A knife is too messy, things could get uglier.

It will depend on your training. A couple of friends I trained with like to use a karambit as they are fast, small, sharp, and if you are proficient... A decent and effective karambit can be acquired for $20-25 USD if you keep it sharp, but if you want to be a dangerous motherfucker after your training get one that is closer to $80-90 USD. Personally, I don't like to compromise range (kind of ironic, as I am a relatively small adult. Not a manlet, but most of my sparring partners (for hand to hand) have a longer reach, so I would normally go in close. I prefer an M9 (made by Ontario), as it is about the same size as a Ka-bar, but it feels better to me. Another favorite of mine is actually the Magnum by Boker. As it is a throwing knife, the balance is amazing, and is great for quick and clean technique. The lack of a crossguard is of little concern, as its not some Hollywood flashy "fight". If it's going to get messy, you want one of those because only one of you will stand after maybe 10 seconds if both of you are hesitant. If you don't travel in such environments often, then there is no need to go out killing in the name of self defense. For simple self defense, get something collapsible, blunt, and pokey (not your dick). You want to keep the angry human at a distance, and easily pokable. That one comment who mentioned using the wood as a spear had the right idea. Especially in traffic, you are dealing with a narrowish space, making side to side maneuvers difficult. Either way I highly recommend martial arts training. If it doesn't help you in real life, the boost in self confidence and discipline is worth it. Last piece of advice I will give is to look at a boxing technique called slipping. Many knife strikes are similar to punches, and can be avoided/parried in similar ways. Remember kids, avoiding the fight is just as good as winning it, unless it's your job. (In which case have fun)

How about a cattle prod or electrified baton.

I mean, tappy tappy and they fall over, right?

Most prods only have the 'bite' as they're designed to push animals along not hinder them. It's stun guns/tasers that have the much higher voltage that makes your muscles lock up and give that 'drop' effect.

Though there are some batons that have that drop effect, most will just sting and make cops ask you why you have a shock baton on you.

How close? Is there space? Do you have any kind of training with your weapon?

In any case, small blackjacks are severely underestimated

You know how it's said that every weapon you have can be used against you? Considering this you should go with a massive horse dildo.

A short knife you can hide and draw quickly. Throw a punch with your off hand to distract and gauge distance while drawing with your other hand and land your second "punch." Repeat until you are covered in enough evidence for a conviction.
