I don't consider suicide. I've already decided that I will overcome whatever obstacles I encounter as long as I am physically and mentally able to do so. It sickens me that people actually accept a reality where others are just "better" than them. For example, I plan on starting my own company soon. Anyone I talk to about it goes on and on about how it won't work because of this or that, or whatever. The majority of businesses in the U.S. are privately owned. Do you honestly expect me to believe those people are somehow better than me? Yes, it will be difficult, yes, there will be obstacles I did not expect; I will overcome those when the time comes because I will simply bite the bullet and do what is necessary. I won't complain that an obstacle is too big or too complex. I will adapt. Others may be unwilling or unable to live that way, but that doesn't mean I'll allow them to project their psychological feebility onto me.

That is the same philosophy I apply to everyday life, my thinking, and to my opinions. I don't need the endorsement of others because everyone is simply weighing new experiences against old; any opinion that isn't supported by scientific fact or at least strong reason is nothing but an amalgamation of subjective whim and not something I need to even consider. This doesn't mean I won't listen to others, but if they stray from logic I begin to tune them out.

I used to be suicidal, I used to think that because I didn't want to do the things I was supposed to do(school), and because I hadn't done the things I was supposed to have done(sex), that I was inherently worth less. Then I realized that to them, I was, but why should I give a damn what they think? Are they gonna make my life better? or are they just doing this because it makes them feel better. Today I still haven't done anything "they"(society, parents etc.) expect of me, and I couldn't care less, ironic that those same people see me as someone very well put together, in a day to day sense.

I felt the same way, but didn't really want to kill myself. I realized that modern cultural expectations are not only inherently unnatural relative to human biology and psychology, but different from the cultural expectations in other places in the world and in time. Those who accept them as absolute are just simpleminded or ignorant, too accepting of doing as they are told.

I am part of the human species, but I am also a distinct sentient entity in an philosophical sense, not a tumblr-esque way . What a human intellectually and psychologically develops into is partly affected biology and partly affected by outside influence and personal experience. You could raise a human to think in almost any way you wanted them to if you could account for all of these influences. That other people are so small minded that they believe they can judge others for not sharing their lifestyle, expectations, or opinions is incredible to me.

Sometimes your situation and the outcome of your actions won't be acceptable to you. In those cases you have to be flexible and accept that you just have to deal with it.

Of course not, you've got 7 billion other people competing for things to also work their way, I just think that that competition should spur you to do something, rather than attempt to forgo all responsibilities, or worse, suicide.

I'd say they're tied together. Ignorance and stupidity can and does birth strong opinions and self-confidence, but intelligence can do the same if it doesn't lead to megalomania or narcissism. A sharp mind tempered by humility acknowledging one's own intelligence in a practical manner is not arrogant, ffs and an honest pursuit of truth can give one confidence in one's self and opinions, as in my case. The more you understand the world around you, the easier it become to make informed decisions.
