well therein lies the problem....people dont learn from history nor try to change the ongoing problems they just invent new ways of ignoring problems and making do because thats 'easier' or 'more cost effective'

also coupled with the main problem of people waving issues off and leaving them for the government to deal with as was the original theme of government in the first place...masses of people waving off responsibility to the control of a few, who make no guarantees of fixing the problems

times change and problems come out in modern ways

given how easy it is to get ebola....we have yet to see how well it gets contained
people arent yet in slavery but we have yet to see how this TPPA thing goes ahead granted its gonna allow corporartions to fuck things up and make life harder for the average people
and i think guantanamo bay was a nice sign of how far the 'national security agencies' are silling to go to round up real or suspected enemis of the state and rteat them like shit till theyre comfortable with what the captives say

hell i work security and i bumped into a couple old buddies when they were out clubbing....we were just standing on the street having a chat and some laughs catching up...cops pulled up, and just loaded 2 of them in the car for "drunk and disorderly' when they werent actually drunk...just excited...and when they questioned what they were being arrested for the cops tagged on 'resisting arrest'

yay free society

i'm not saying every life is better, or society is perfect, hell corruption and civilization have went hand in hand since the beginning and it will exist into the future. The only real way to get ride of it is to dissolve civilization itself. disease has always been a problem but it has gotten much more manageable with modern health care and we have seen the rapid growth of a middle class that has opportunities in their lives. In the big picture life is better for the masses than it's every been, in my opinion. Modern ways don't create new problems they just reshape old ones.

pass on the plagues? yet to see how well the government contains the ebola they made

the inquisition....fbi...cia?

serfdom?....i know a few americans having to work 2 jobs to make ends meet

has Ebola wiped out 50% of the population? no. a couple people got sick because they were in Africa during an Ebola outbreak and came back to america. Are 90% of Americans poor, uneducated, own no property, no opportunities, and work basically slave labor their whole lives. last time i checked no.
I'm not saying our lives our perfect but they are a hell of a lot better than the dark ages

I can't speak for the fbi and cia but i'm sure you have some sources on the matter. I still wouldn't want to deal with the inquisition

i'm pretty sure he still died in the movie cause Wikipedia says

"Smith planned to make the Titanic his final voyage before retiring. He retreats into the bridge as the ship sinks, dying when the windows implode from the water whilst he clings to the ship's wheel. It is often disputed whether he died in this manner or later froze to death, as he was reported to be seen near the overturned Collapsible B.[21] Others speculate he was crushed when funnel 1 collapsed."

regardless he didn't just run away onto a life boat, he accepted his fate.

I don't know why he needs them now. If I knew I'd tell you. If you'd like to know send admin a message and maybe he will answer.
#6 to #5 - noschool ONLINE (10/20/2013) [-]
Don't you think that is something you should know, anything you do in life should have some reason other than "because somebody told me too". why are you supporting Admin so blindly. you choose to do this job without question, you ban people because he says its good, but has he shown you any statistics as to the benefits and what is this even befitting, other than his word, and who is this even benefiting because the community obviously hates these new rules. Its like if some guy told you to go shoot anyone why was wearing the color red, that's probable something you should question.
User avatar #7 to #6 - wickkles (10/20/2013) [-]
That's idiotic. You can't put a price on a human life. No one deserves to die.

Anyway, if I didn't believe that doing this is the right thing then I wouldn't do it. Why would addy hire a bunch of users to ban people? If we did it for no reason then everyone would just leave FJ and he wouldn't be making any money. The reason he told us is because Google doesn't like smut websites. So they don't want to advertise on them. Which means FJ as no income which ends in the site shutting down. I take this "job" seriously and if boss man says flag things that Google doesn't like then I have to do it. I don't want to ban people, but if I have to I will. Plus it's not like it's forever. It's 1 hour. It used to be a life time ban so things have gotten better in that department.
#8 to #7 - noschool ONLINE (10/20/2013) [-]
"Why would addy hire a bunch of users to ban people?"-i thought being a mod was unpaid.
"FJ and he wouldn't be making any money." were we not making money for the many years before these rules went into place?
"Google doesn't like smut websites. "- I've seen google ad's that have been more explicit that the **** that has been banned, I don't know if it's still flagged but some guy got flagged for posting a picture of a Google ad, that's ******** .
"Plus it's not like it's forever. It's 1 hour. It used to be a life time ban so things have gotten better in that department."-While this is true it's more about the principle that the punishment for many people, at least it is for me.
Plus he is being way to extreme, i mean have you been to YouTube; they have girls in bikinis, dildos, naked art, and not only do they have Google ads up the ******* ass, the sites owned by Google and those videos don't get banned.
User avatar #9 to #8 - wickkles (10/20/2013) [-]
1. We don't get paid. I said hire because I take this as seriously as a paying job.
2. We were making money via Ads, but Google is bitch to addy about all these gore and porn on the site. So he needs to take care of it with us.
3. Addy has no power over what Google puts as their ads. From what I've seen, they find key words and then put ads around it So I guess putting sexy words on a content means Googles ad engine thinks it's a porn site? I'm not sure on that.
4. I feel you on that. I honestly believe that these rules are too much, but I'd rather see users get a hour ban than the site being shut down.

I honestly don't know all the details. I just have a good guess. Ask addy, ragingbrony or phanny pack. They might have a better idea than I do.
