>Unless it's a park or specifically part of a landscape's design.

A cherry tree in someone's yard, a grove outside of the library or at the local park, a row of small trees bordering a market street. All fine, I have no issue with these.

Random old tree in a back alley? Couldn't care less if it's cut down for construction or renovation.

Not to mention untended vegetation can cause structural damage to nearby roads, buildings, and even underground piping and wiring. It can also be a fire risk.

well i wouldn't really consider a building or a billboard, or any man made structure "landscape" i mean i thought the definition of landscape was that it was a natural thing or at least consisted of natural objects like trees, grass and rocks. like i said i see your point i think you just phased it poorly.

I know globally we're fucking rain forests over. Just trying to make the point that trees here aren't really threatened. I probably should have made that clearer, but I'm sleep deprived right now and can't be bothered.

The government pays the contractors to dig up the site and level it out so they can put up some signs that advertisers will pay to promote their product to consumers who will then go out and buy the products, thus cycling the money through the economy as it should be.

How is that not economical? The phrase "You have to spend money to make money" comes to mind.

And I'm not saying "Hurr durr let's cut down every lone tree we see in a city" I'm just saying people don't need to get their panties in a twist because someone cut down a single tree in an empty lot to put up some billboards.

And to anyone curious, yes, I got the joke in the content. I just didn't think it was that good.
#40 - noschool (11/16/2014) [-]
i get your point but saying "there's no need for random trees in cities." kinda makes it sound like you think there should be no trees in the city.

It is not controversial or against the mainstream, the mainstream states that old growth forests are disappearing which is true, what they do not mention is the young forests like pine plantations that people have planted to replace the old growth forests.
Or do people think we have literally been ravaging forests for the past 100 years without planting trees?
Huge efforts have been in place around the globe to fix the deforestation problem and the simple fact is it has worked, it is not my fault if people are too god damned ignorant or lazy to open another tab and google that for themselves.

it may nit be your fault but it is generally a good rule of thumb to not trust what random people say on the internet. i was actually curious and looked it up, and your sort of right but it's really only present in places like the US, however there are still issues world wide, especially in 3rd world countries who cut down their forest, mainly rain forest, like there is no tomorrow for farmland and resources and you can't just compensate for that by planting more trees elsewhere. we have more food than ever before in the world but that doesn't mean we don't have issues with famine in places like Africa, and making more food in America won't help Africa.

I don't know why he needs them now. If I knew I'd tell you. If you'd like to know send admin a message and maybe he will answer.
#6 to #5 - noschool ONLINE (10/20/2013) [-]
Don't you think that is something you should know, anything you do in life should have some reason other than "because somebody told me too". why are you supporting Admin so blindly. you choose to do this job without question, you ban people because he says its good, but has he shown you any statistics as to the benefits and what is this even befitting, other than his word, and who is this even benefiting because the community obviously hates these new rules. Its like if some guy told you to go shoot anyone why was wearing the color red, that's probable something you should question.
User avatar #7 to #6 - wickkles (10/20/2013) [-]
That's idiotic. You can't put a price on a human life. No one deserves to die.

Anyway, if I didn't believe that doing this is the right thing then I wouldn't do it. Why would addy hire a bunch of users to ban people? If we did it for no reason then everyone would just leave FJ and he wouldn't be making any money. The reason he told us is because Google doesn't like smut websites. So they don't want to advertise on them. Which means FJ as no income which ends in the site shutting down. I take this "job" seriously and if boss man says flag things that Google doesn't like then I have to do it. I don't want to ban people, but if I have to I will. Plus it's not like it's forever. It's 1 hour. It used to be a life time ban so things have gotten better in that department.

"Why would addy hire a bunch of users to ban people?"-i thought being a mod was unpaid.
"FJ and he wouldn't be making any money." were we not making money for the many years before these rules went into place?
"Google doesn't like smut websites. "- I've seen google ad's that have been more explicit that the **** that has been banned, I don't know if it's still flagged but some guy got flagged for posting a picture of a Google ad, that's ******** .
"Plus it's not like it's forever. It's 1 hour. It used to be a life time ban so things have gotten better in that department."-While this is true it's more about the principle that the punishment for many people, at least it is for me.
Plus he is being way to extreme, i mean have you been to YouTube; they have girls in bikinis, dildos, naked art, and not only do they have Google ads up the ******* ass, the sites owned by Google and those videos don't get banned.
User avatar #9 to #8 - wickkles (10/20/2013) [-]
1. We don't get paid. I said hire because I take this as seriously as a paying job.
2. We were making money via Ads, but Google is bitch to addy about all these gore and porn on the site. So he needs to take care of it with us.
3. Addy has no power over what Google puts as their ads. From what I've seen, they find key words and then put ads around it So I guess putting sexy words on a content means Googles ad engine thinks it's a porn site? I'm not sure on that.
4. I feel you on that. I honestly believe that these rules are too much, but I'd rather see users get a hour ban than the site being shut down.

I honestly don't know all the details. I just have a good guess. Ask addy, ragingbrony or phanny pack. They might have a better idea than I do.
