anon (11/02/2014) [-] Mathematician - Someone who was too smart for their own good and dies poor. Actually I took engineering because I'll make more money in the end then a mathematician. I could of got into a mathematics course quite easily, not to mention engineers and mathematicians have very different mindsets. >How can I prove this works? How can I proof this? >How can I use this in the best way? How can I apply this solution? #34 -
anon (11/02/2014) [-] You could have got into mathematics but you couldn't write "could have" right. Yeah, sure. I don't really need to sound intelligent over the internet. I'm sure you've that covered. #26 -

hendlovessesshy (10/31/2014) [-] The thing is that to us, religion is our life. we don't have priests or nuns. we do have sheiks (who are basically a person who is very religious and memorizes the Quran , But we treat them as any other human and not holy. ). We don't believe in just one person's job to being devoted. To us, if you chose this religion. Then you should be devoted, otherwise why be in the religion in the first place? It's exactly like what nuns do except that almost everyone does it and not just a few people. I understand that you would think its weird that we are too modest to show a little bit of our neck. And it does sound absurd in the western/southasian culture. But in ours its honestly not a big deal. you said " there is a difference between a nun, someone who devotes herself to living a celibate and impoverished life in service to her church, and your average religious follower wearing something that constantly covers herself because someone said it's improper not to." I think it's unfair saying that an average person cannot be as religious as a nun. Maybe in other religion it is, but in Islam, anyone can be close to God. We don't need to be celibate to be closed to God, not like the christian priest or nuns. And yes, we do cover because the Quran says we should, but that's exactly the same reason the nuns do it as well, because it says in the bible (the original one, not the one translated a billion times over). This isn't limited to Islam. Why is it sad for the people who want to be more modest. I don't believe that being modest is a sad thing. And that is my opinion. This is what we chose to believe. It's our decision if we want to follow the Quran or not. therefore no one is telling me what to do. And whatever I do shouldn't be judged just because i am a certain religion. Especially when other religion do the exact same thing. **BTW, Did you know that we cannot eat a polar bear liver because our body cannot handle that much Vitamin A. ** | ||

anon (10/31/2014) [-] They don't wear hijab because of shame. It's about modesty. Most women I mean most because Saudi Arabia is fucked up chose to wear this. They are not being oppressed like how the American media makes it up to be. I wear it because it says in the Quran to wear it, and guess what, I can do whatever the hell i want. I can follow what the Quran says and its not anyone's business what i do. No one forced me to do it. I am not oppressed. #207 -
noplaceperson (10/31/2014) [-] I dont mean that you personally are oppressed or that people who wear hijabs are doing so unwillingly, but that this idea of modesty where men shouldn't be allowed to see someones hair or neck and where people should have to put up shields between them is a sad way to see the world. Are we that corruptible as a species that letting even one's neck show is immodest. In response to your image, there is a difference between a nun, someone who devotes herself to living a celibate and impoverished life in service to her church, and your average religious follower wearing something that constantly covers herself because someone said it's improper not to. A nun makes being Christian her job, and her outfit is a uniform. If the hijab was like a uniform for those working for the islamic faith i would find it more agreeable.. #283 -

noplaceperson (10/31/2014) [-] To be honest the whole burka, hijab, etc. thing offends me as well because the idea that our bodies should be that hidden or protected from the rest of society does bother me. Though I'm a dude so it wouldn't effect me, but its the principle of things. People shouldn't be made to feel shame about their body or about sexual desires governed by biology. #177 -
