i mean you dont actually have to understand the system to use it i took me a few days of reading to fully grasp it. but to put it in perspective its about as real as the Dollar euro or pound their all made up money by people that only retains the value people trust in it. The only reason i trust the US dollar is because i have to pay my taxes with it, its the only money the us gov will accept besides that in the future you could use crytpocurrency for everything else

But since there's currently only a very limited number of people and services accepting it, doesn't that make bit coins closer to something like coupons for specific stores? I just don't see any great use for it.

i see them more as a stock right now im mining them and buying cheap selling when the price is higher. You can make some serious coin with a bit of risk, bitcoins have gone from 1000$ in December to 100$ in feb to 650$ to 400$ and everywhere in between.
