Shallow, gameplay wise. Morrowind had intricate quests that focused sorely on your character archtype and depended on how your knowledge of the land.

Skyrim (and Oblivion in some cases) have more limited choices. To name some pretty glaring problems: dungeons sucked, weapon variety went to shit, the spells were watered down even from oblivion, the quest variety were almost always dependent on killing a select few monsters, Guild quests suck way more now, etc. Not to mention the Console-Based UI that blows for the PC version.

Morrowind isn't the perfect game (I much prefer a Gothic approach to a Sandbox RPG), but it was certainly the height of the Elder Scrolls in setting, Daggerfall was the height in choices. The lore in every game after Daggerfall was consistent, but I'm not personally invested in the lore so I can't really judge that too well. To put it bluntly, I don't care.

It depends on your play style entirely. Personally, I loved Oblivion, yet never really got much out of Skyrim. I find that most people who really liked Skyrim were usually very interested in the lore or more direct role playing. I generally felt that Skyrim consisted half of doing quests to fetch items and another 40% of killing draugr, with the last 10% being quests I genuinely liked. I'm not saying Skyrim was a bad game, but I never found a fraction of the enjoyment I got from Oblivion. However, again, if you really liked the lore or are more of a hardcore roleplayer, it seems that it has much more content to offer. I respect Skyrim fans, but nonetheless I'd take Oblivion over Skyrim any day.

Apparently, however, someone is actually recreating Morrowind with the Skyrim engine, and if that rumor is true then I feel like it would do a lot for the entire Elder Scrolls base.

actually the modders themselves say that skyrim lacks some of the freedom they got with oblivion. Let's hope the next game will keep everyone happy.

Have any idea how awesome it is to know that the next Fallout game and Elder Scrolls game will run with more than ~3.8GB of RAM? With optimization, it's going to be a fucking field day for everyone... Except console-ers. Poor guys.

the thing i think that i like that oblivion and morrow wind had that skyrim left out was that the armor was individual pieces like shoulders chest lets boots and gauntlets cuz i made some cool looking armor combinations and i liked on oblivion at least on the dark brotherhood missions you could fail them if you didnt do them a certain way or got bonus gold for doing it and a certain way

I'd say Skyrim had more lore and stuff unrelated to anything with better graphics and moderately improved gameplay But fuck that lock picking change.

>Implying Skyrim isn't the shallowest piece of console-shit in the entire Elder Scrolls series

Oblivion isn't that much better though. Skyrim at least had somewhat better gameplay (i.e: Swinging a sword felt a bit better) and the leveling system wasn't outright broken out of the box. They're both crap in their own ways without mods, and are really dull lore-wise and in setting compared to Morrowind.

Did you read them online, or did you actually try and find them in-game?

That latter would be a pain-in-the-ass, I would think.

In-game, and when I said "all", I meant that I found, and I found the majority of them first run though each thing, then came back later and looted everything after I wouldn't have to really worry about something killing me.

How is it shallow? the lore is still just as deep if you take the time to read about it from the books. But yeah, that oblivion combat system drove me mad everything had too much health after a certain level, I'd just end up running past most enemies.
