I know that, I'm fairly certain he meant that god is beyond our reach and beyond our understanding.

I assume too much sir. Usually I take this as someone implying that Mr. Gagarin was an atheist - something I don't actually have a problem with. However, I just think that people should perhaps dig a bit deeper before labeling someone in any way.
