It's real, but it's meant to refer to people who have things like PTSD or people who got past severe addictions. IE, someone with PTSD hearing a car backfire might be triggered into painful memories or even hallucinating that they're back in the war because it sounds like gunfire. Some ex-alcoholics are triggered by people opening cans of soda.

Well triggering is meant for someone who is actually unable to handle seeing/reading it, mostly due to something happening to them. A real trigger would be like a rape victim seeing a rape scene in a movie and breaking down, or a victim of abuse as a child watching someone attack a little kid. It usually stems from real events that traumatized an individual, and used to be used as an honest warning to people who suffered through some messed up things, but tumblr adopted it as anything that remotely offends you.

Tumblr people are not organized enough to do a 'raid'. If it's simple instruction, like sign a petition or reblogging a post or donating to a charity/kickstarter/ect, you'd get half a mill responses in less than a week give or take.

But 'taking down' a site? And a site like 4chan? Nope. There's potential really. Imagine if they spammed /b/ with gay fanfiction, shipping wars, and over exaggerated 'omg' 'Icant' 'canteven' talk, some feathers would be seriously ruffled. But there's too many goddamned sensitive people that have no idea how to handle trolls and would take everything too seriously.
