Gimmie a straw and a paper clip and spawn me into a room with an elite military force, and I'll show you how I prepare a meal.

That meant nothing in particular, but hi! I'm new here. I'm gonna need a guide, so put on your helmet. I got a pair for the both of us.

That's... that's not even misrepresentation, you are straight up putting words in my mouth. Which is odd, because it's not like people can't just read my comment to know I said no such thing.

I must have missed the point where I said this was everyone, because that never happened and you're full of shit. Stop looking to be offended, it's sad.

When fans go to the point of attacking anyone who brings up any criticism about something, then that thing is OVERRATED. You know, that thing you're doing right now, yeah that's called proving my point. I don't even have to comment, because every time you comment my argument gets more solid >_> what are you doing mate?

Sorry, sorry. Let me bring your comment down here instead.

And I doth quote:

"Possibly the most overrated book on Earth. Which is unfortunate, because it's well written, but the "fans" of it are so darn cancerous."

(Something I think about at least 23 people read and thumbed you for. Oh, not that thumbs mean anything.)

So, to cover all bases here, you're basically saying that the more fans defend a series the more overrated it becomes? Completely different from overrated meaning something isn't as good as people say it is, which is practically dictionary definition, right?

Gee willickers, if I keep debating you I'll just be proving you more and more right! Darn you strawman fallacy!

Oh wait, it works the same for you and your opinion, doesn't it?

Nah, I don't give a shit.

A book can be simultaneously praiseworthy and overrated. Look, we get it, you like the book; but you're proving my point that you aren't even allowed to criticise the book without being attacked for it.

Just because something is always exposed to critique doesn't mean the critique can't be wrong either.

Lesson time:

Overrated--means not as good as everyone says it is.

Reason why you are wrong:

Because not everyone talks about it like its the next big blockbuster hit. Otherwise you might actually have a point.

I mean, people tend to not use negative connotations on books that they like. I dunno, that's just me. I'm sure Harry Potter is every definition of the word "overrated" but I would call it that because I like it. Hitchhikers Guide on the other hand more than earned its place as a classic and doesn't have a following nearly as obnoxious as Dr. Who let alone an obnoxious one at all, so on top of the fact that you're as objectively wrong as a the trix rabbit eating a bowl of his own cereal, it is objectively incorrect to call books that make history--let alone books in general with very few exceptions--"overrated." Unless having wrong opinions is just your gig. I'm which case continue to pretend you are right and I will act defeated for your amusement.

The fact that a book--a book, of all the different kinds of media in our society, which also happens to be the most educational form of media--is subject to words that dribble from the asscracks of the worlds commonplace egotistical elitist couch critics like "overrated" in the most self-absorbed context that they are known to prescribe to things that are automatically, and generally quite justly, associated with the overproduced product more commonly for its association with television and movies. What's known as an American Classic, for petes sake, and all because of the dislike for a fanbase whose voice is nigh nonexistent on a comparison scale to that of your average marvel movie.
