yeah, except that whenever the Bible gets disrespected in some way, Christians mostly just feel a little sad or offended, others might also try to respond by defending their beliefs in a comment or whatever, but in the end they'll respect the authors right to draw what he/she likes to.

When it comes to the Quran however, people starts to range and kill random Christians and Jews in the Islamic and Western world and the author gets death threats and needs to be guarded for his/her own safety. And also, the number of people who condemn those acts are a far higher then those about Christianity. Politicians get involved, the author gets criticized by the Media for being disrespectful to Muslims and offending their beliefs, but they don't give a damn when it comes to Christianity.

tl;dr The amount of butthurt you get from doing something like this with the Koran, is way higher than with Christianity

The picture is actually based on a true events.

A while back soldiers doing raids on Terrorists confiscated a shit ton of Korans. They then had to be read and such to make sure they weren't being used to pass messages and set-up attacks etc etc... Turns out it was just a shit ton of Korans.

At that point they were like "WTF do we do with all these?" Final decision was made to incinerate them. So they threw them all into an incinerator of something.

ENTER POLITICAL SHIT STORM.

A few months later, some guy decided to burn a bible as some sort of abstract art and it was hailed as original, thought provoking, and a masterpiece of.. well burning stuff I guess.

Either way... that's how it goes.

Well you often only experience that kind of rage in areas that are overwhelmed with the ideals of Jihad and Sharia. However, in Africa and the Pacific Islands where Islam is just as popular as the middle east, oppression is fairly rare and minimal when it does appear.

It's implying that whenever somebody makes fun of the Bible or does something disrespectful to it, it's considered a good thing that makes the artist express how he thinks bad of the values that they promote, while when somebody does the same for the Koran, everybody rages, Muslims and non-Muslims alike and says that it's racist, xenophobic and so on.

So basically yeah, it is implying a double standard
User avatar #407 - ninjapwnyourmom (02/06/2013) [-]
Christians do take a little more of a beating when it comes to satirical art. However, you have to admit their is a significant portion of the Christian world that rages whenever they feel the bible has been disrespected. And their is also a significant sect of Muslims who do not rage whenever the Q'ran is disrespected. But I do understand the joke now.

Well, let me fill you in on some wonderful Christina knowledge.

There is no such things as the Christian Church. The Roman Catholic CHurch (THe Holy See, the Vatican, etc.) dictates most, if not all Christian Doctrine.

Seeing as our current Pope, Pope Benedict 16th is rather anti-progress, gay's will not get support from the Catholic CHurch. THis means that ALL Christian denominations will not support gays.

Our old Pope, Pope John Paul 2nd, was a saint (metaphorically, and soon to be literally speaking) who brought a science department to the Church. This department was open to PEOPLE OF ALL FAITHS. Not any more unfortunately...

Anywho, you are right that the BIble does not specifically condone the killing of gays, but it does state that marriage is between a man and a woman.

It is tricky business. The government should have the ultimate authority in the matter, and should make it equal for all.

while this is true, up until VERY very recently it was very common to be a homophobe, so if you asked the opinion of anyone 50+ years ago what they thought of Homosexual's it would be along the lines of "it's unnatural its wrong they're sick or they're going to hell"

so of course soemthing written 2000 years ago preaches the same thing! if god came out saying "it's okay to love someone of the same gender" no body wold have taken it with a grain of salt.

my point of the church being wrong and corrupt is it's become about human nature rather then doing the right thing, if god wrote a new chapter to his bible he would tailor it to the modern day.

i don't believe in churches because instead of preaching god's mission, they nitpick on the things THEY want to. god would want us to help the poor bring peace to our conflicts and help humanity, NOT condemn people for who they love.

Sir, you have an excellent point. I find your ideas about god and his thoughts very interesting to say the least, and I'm glad to finally meet a religious person who is worried about the good of his fellow man, while he is alive, instead of asking him to change his ways to suit your own. Thank you.

User avatar #400 - aussiepridevil (02/06/2013) [-]
i wasn't arguing this.

i wasn't trying to be offensive either, my aunty has been with the same women for 7 years and they can't get married, it's rather sad, but i digress, the reason homosexual's can't get married isn't because "lul bible said so end of story" it's a corrupt church that sais so, and that's wrong.
#404 - ninjapwnyourmom (02/06/2013) [-]
Well, it's the christian church's job to preach the doctrine of the bible, and while the church's in american society may not preach the bible's exact meaning in every single situation, they do still take a majority the bibles morals as their own.

In that, it is also true the bible doesn't precisely say gay's can't marry, but that is simply because the thought was unheard of when the bible was written. the bible does condone the murder of homosexuals and damns them to hell for their acts... I mean in the end, the bible isn't exactly gay friendly. Ergo, it makes sense that any religion that partially drew from it, would possess at least some anit-homosexual traits.

Hmph, I always wondered what military personnel would think of this site. Must be sad to see a bunch of twelve year old American hating faggots label every soldier as a terrorist and thumb up posts like these. Most of their comments are extremely biased and lack full knowledge of what's going on. That retarded anon insulting you for your occupation is a good example.

I'm not a fan of war, I wish we could avoid policing the world unless it's our own soil. With that said, I'm not a liberal. I'm as right wing as they get.

On a side note, while I'm getting thumbed down all to hell, I should toss this in so I get a two for one red wave of thumbs.

The other day I was at my Liberal friends house and I see on his table, a copy of the constitution. I said "it's like a nun having a roll of condoms isn't it?" he said "What do you mean?" I said "A liberal with the Constitution, it's not like liberals need the Constitution."

I feel like being devil's advocate, but is America being "World Police" all that bad?

What I mean is that America is really fighting for free trade for the entire world. Terrorism, sea pirates and anyone who see's fighting as a way to get what they want really disrupts the flow of money and goods around the world.

Sure America is fighting for what they want, but free markets and free people in any corner of the globe have beneficial effects for everyone and allows humanity as a single group to move forward.
#386 - caplocker (11/15/2012) [-]
I believe it's bad yes. How is China suffering from not getting involved in every single dispute world wide? Why must we be the only nation getting involved? It's at the cost of our young men and women and our tax dollars that we obviously don't have to spare now.
#213 - anonymous (11/15/2012) [-]
This isn't anti-war its displaying a need to deal with the suicide rate in the forces... no wonder you're a marine, I'm guessing an American one at that... All meat heads that can lift a fair bit but do fuck all else.
