Well, it would be more from the recoil of the actual impact than the impact itself. During the time where the rear end became airborne.

This is merely my thoughts, I have absolutely nothing more than the picture to go on.

When the person hit the tree, the inertia didn't stop with the tree forcing the vehicle to "spin" in a direction, in this case it turned in such a manner that it became wedged between the poles.

Even as a physics student at university I'm still confused as hell by this, i guess that makes some sense, oh well, time to carry out some experiments to find out, now to get my university to fun this...
