| #6 - Do you want to know why we associate the scythe with death? [+] (12 new replies) | 05/24/2013 on Birthday | +13 |
| I thought it had something to do with father time, aka saturn who had a scythe in Roman myth, and then later the black plague had some influence I always assumed it was something along the lines of him reaping souls, being the Grim Reaper and all. Not sure about the real reason. :/ #8 -
ninjabadger (05/24/2013) [-] Well I suppose it is somewhat a matter of perspective. Basically, we are like the grains that have been sown into the living world and grow everyday. When we are fully grown, we are "harvested" for some purpose we can't hope to imagine. Will we become greater than we already are? Will we be piled into some heavenly afterlife? Or will we simply cease, as would a harvested grain? That kind of insinuates that Death is God... as he gives us life and then takes us when we are ready. Perhaps he is. TL: DR Death is the harvester of human grain (souls). I was honestly going to make that comparison for making us into something better, but abstained from doing so. I somewhat regret that decision. | ||

It's really hard to explain.
I don't really understand why I like to do these things.
I like giving to people because regardless of who they are, people who are aloof to me or people who are my friends, they're all so joyous when they get presents.
I guess I find joy out of other people's joy?
I'm still not really sure.

Ah sorry, long game.
I do feel the same way, prefer to make others happy over myself. Brings some satisfaction.
Sadly I do not have the means to do what you do... easily at least.
But its quite nice what you do, so thanks... on behalf of everyone.

Aha, was gonna message you.
Just a quick question. Were you one of those people who only kept people added that they frequently spoke to?
If so, I understand.
I just remember we used to, if memory serves, be friends. Not sure why I just realized we weren't anymore.
But yeah, I can understand if you don't want to. Not like I'm anybody special.
Sorry for the suddenness of this...
