There were reconstructions made of some of the destroyed episodes (I think some are still missing and don't even have the reconstructions).
I'm willing to watch them, but I still don't like them that much... The pacing was already off what with the production being in the mid-60's and everything... But it gets worse with the reconstructions what with it just being pictures with audio
Here's one of them:

Hopefully they'll make animated versions of many of the missing episodes, as they have started doing
It's a big task, but would certainly help watching these great stories a little better
It may have been slow, but many of Doctor Who's greatest achievements were in the '60s

Oh definitely. I mean, there are a lot of great episodes, and sometimes the slow pacing actually worked like in the arc 'Edge of Destruction' that was more like a psychological horror what with the way everyone was acting.
What I'm meaning is that I can definitely bare a little bit of slow pacing, but I can't get into it with just pictures
I also noticed that your username is "Yetaxaa", and your pic is William Hartnell
Would that have anything to do with the fact that Barbara pretended to be Yetaxa in 'The Aztecs' arc?
User avatar #41 - houseofbrick (05/19/2013) [-]
no, there will only be more questions. The old episodes are very, very different and a lot of stuff has been retconned since the new series.
#42 - nigglettt (05/19/2013) [-]
Well I guess that kind of puts my mind at ease. I feel like I'm missing less. Still it would be nice to see the originals. Thanks for the help.

The series wasn't deemed important enough to keep the tapes, so it was just tossed. My Grandfather has diligently searched down some very rare episodes that he remembers watching when they aired, but there are still so many that will never be seen again. I don't know about scripts, though.
#40 - nigglettt (05/19/2013) [-]
I hope the scripts are still intact so maybe we can one day see the originals revamped. I just recently started watching so I'm thinking maybe if we see the originals there will be less questions.

the only lost episodes are from troughton and Hartnell. and they have been reconstructed using stills from the destroyed episodes.

a lot of it was lost/destroyed, sadly.
#38 - nigglettt (05/19/2013) [-]
That is the worst news that I have ever heard. Do you have any idea why? And were the original scripts and everything destroyed as well?
