the problem is that you can't ever play it safe because the items despawning makes you have to be close to enemies, the unpredictability of enemies combo with this to make it dangerous to be by enemies. you shouldn't have to waste an upgrade on a shitty mechanic, even so you have to do the thing it's supposed to fix just to get a chance to get it.

rogue legacy lets you walk away from rooms you don't think you can handle, the enemies have easy to learn patterns, binding of isaac has enemies with easy to learn patterns, spelunky has enemies with easy to learn patterns that you can avoid most of the time, FTL is all about knowing what an enemy is going to do and reacting accordingly, enter the gungeon has enemies with easy to learn patterns. so tell me, how is unpredictable enemies a genre problem?

don't get me wrong, nuclear throne isn't a bad game, it's actually really fun and fast paced, but there are a lot of design problems that i don't agree with.

rogue legacy doesn't spawn you in the middle of a room full of enemies and then throw a boss right on top of you, and make items despawn after five seconds to where you have to get close to enemies or else you're screwed, and then the random unpredictability of enemy attacks get's you because you don't know which enemy is going to attack next in a room full of enemies that the game forces you to be in.

its called strategy. thats why there's variety in short to long range weapons which help you through to killing the closer enemies in order to get drops. theres also an upgrade to help out with drop collection.

play Shadow of Chernobyl, no need for mods unless it crashes 10 times the first 5 minutes, then you should install ZRP (bugfixes and all that jazz)

I suggest stalker complete for mods if you want lots of fixes ( thouh it gets a bit easier)
