I think that even if the teachers really don't expect you to think outside of class or care for you, doesn't mean that you should't try do it by yourself. If you truly want to learn then I don't see what's stopping you, when we are in an age where you can learn so much from a box and a screen. I like to think of teachers and schools as a helping hand to give you a push, but not as something you should completely relay on to give you success.

You say that like it's a bad thing, especially the last part. Unjustly crediting your country with more than it's earned means that you're very likely to overlook what's wrong with it. If you do that, your country's fucked whether you like it or not.

To further emphasize I'd say the worst part of the education system is the utter lack of actual care.

Most teachers have absolutely no concern whatsoever about the students, the system itself is only concerned about statistics, and students are thus given no reason to care either.

They go because they are legally bound to. Teachers prep them to cram study and pass tests, then most of what they learned is forgotten.

I, myself, as an adult have had to use the internet to reeducate myself concerning simple things such as calculating percentages, or the like because these things were just briefly glanced over in school so we could pass a test and look good for statistics. After that we all forgot every bit of it for the most part.

It's a very pathetic system in need of major renovations.

I wouldn't be able to go so far as to blame the teachers, they're stuck with those quotas and they can't do anything about it. If a certain number of student's can't pass your class, they might fire you. The amount of material you have to cover before the next exam is enormous, so you're stuck with breezing through the material and basically temporarily having everyone memorize the answers instead of truly understanding them.

At least that's what I understood of the system when I was in high school.
