I am saying, if any industry is either dominated by men or by women, there is reason to accept that these industries would discriminate. The unfortunate fact is that those dominated by men tend to be higher paid than those dominated by women. As you have said pursing a career that is not what would be stereotypically expected of your gender is hard, so it is hard for women to break into the highly paid male oriented careers because of gender expectations, and saying they need to get a backbone, is at best ignorant and at worst chauvinistic.

Actually that's not what i said at all. Learn how to read please. i said a career in graphic design would be hard because it is, whether you're a girl or a boy. the reason that most of those careers dominated by men are higher paying is because the education for them is more expensive, and the work is harder. I think you're the one being sexist at this point. The first point you made was that women are encouraged to go into those women dominated fields of work, and the point i made is that they didn't have to. So yes, if you are coerced into doing something that you don't want to with your life just because of other peoples expectations, then you are in desperate need of a backbone. Good fight.

So you agree, some careers are male/female dominated?

Um yeah. That was pretty much what this whole post was about. You were the one arguing against it in case you forgot.

I am interested, what is your career, or future career?
#297 - nickmandemon (04/15/2014) [-]
Actually, I hope to pursue a career in graphic design, even though it will be hard to make money. And that goes against the male stereotype that is shown in this content. So basically, if i can choose something that is a mostly women dominated career, they can do the same.
