Because it went multiplatform and Naughty Dog stopped making them. Wrath of Cortex was good, but the series degraded after that.

Naw, man. Twinsanity was the last great one. On par with Crash 3 if you ask me. Crash of the Titans was when it started getting shit. You can tell, because the whole series fucking died one game later.

Crash games always seemed to be about platforming, while Twinsanity had those Cortex-Beehive bits, ambushes, and puzzles, making it a far cry from the original 4 in the canon series. It was a change I enjoyed, but it did not feel like a traditional Crash game.

I get where you're coming from, but I don't think that the original games were all about that. Platforming was the focus, definitely, but I also remember a whole lot of vehicle segments with racing and shooting in those games, like the jetski and plane levels in 3, the bazooka power-up, and the time trials. Twinsanity might have had a less platforming than the classics, but the new elements didn't feel to me like much of a far cry from all that stuff.

And if you look at it from a series-wide perspective, what about Crash Team Racing, or Crash Bash? Both from the same era as the classics, but they had no platforming in them whatsoever. As a franchise, I think the identity of what qualifies as a "Crash game" is a little broader than you're allowing for.

Again, just my opinion.
