Have a nice day. However, I would just like to point out that I too feel the woman is partially responsible though I do agree with the final ruling by the court. However, don't assume that i don't find the whole thing ridiculous as I was just giving out the information that a lawyer told me about it.

It was cheaper due to the fact that if customers complained about their drinks being cold, then the company would need to make the drink warmer, usually by adding more fresh warm coffee into their cups, which would cost them money. This was far more expensive than the lawsuits since being a billion dollar company allows them to have the best lawyers and win 99% of their cases. The company did not care if a few customers would be severely burnt or that it could potentially ruin heir lives if the coffee was spilled since it would be a lower loss of profit for them if they raised their coffee to such a high temperature that no one would complain about it being cold.
User avatar #69 - nephtus (07/07/2013) [-]
Well, I don't think the same way (I think the woman is more responsible than the company), but I understand your opinion.

On a side note, it seems funny or at least quite ironic to me, that a company that has/could pay for such good lawyers lost so much money due to their coffee being hot.

It's always nice to have a debate that doesn't involve cussing the shit out of the other person, so all I have left to say is, may you have a nice day, sir.

well wherever the big bang originated would i suppose technically be the "center" but on infinite scale it loses all meaning.

Simplifying things down to "from far enough away everything can be assumed to be homogeneous" may work well for math, but it doesnt really mesh well with a philosophical view. Too reductionist and convenient *shudders dramatically*

i dont want to read that,

but i suppose if the universe is infinite, every point is equally central. But that also means each point is equally non-central.

In short, there is no center to the universe.
User avatar #36 - nephtus (07/03/2013) [-]
well, it's explained very clearly in the youtube video, the wikipedia link was more of a formality (yeah, citing info from wikipedia, right)

basically, there's a phenomenon with expanding things that make it so, if you were to look at the same point before and after the expansion, everything looks as if it was the center (no matter what point you chose)

i am that anon, and what i said is right

there's a thing called the "Cosmological principle" by which, essentially, every point in the universe is the center of the universe

and why the hell not, here you have a couple sources:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmological_principle

I'm used to other operative systems but I guess you have Windows at your job computer. Assuming you can install software in that computer, the process is a little tricky, but bear with me, it's not too hard:

1. Go to www.autohotkey.com and click the 'download' button at the top.
2. Install it.
3. If you only want to change the Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V shortcuts you can follow these steps (for more complex stuff go to www.autohotkey.com/docs/Tutorial.htm):

-Create a txt file in the folder of your choice (right click > new... > text file)
-Write the following in the text file (preferably with the notepad, but any text processor can do):

!s::Send ^c
!d::Send ^v

This would make it so if you press Alt+S it would be like pressing Ctrl+C, and if you press Alt+D it would be like pressing Ctrl+V

You can change it to whatever you like (the model is pretty straight forward, just keep in mind that:

!k means Alt+K
#k means Windows+K
^k means Ctrl+K
^!k means Ctrl+Alt+K

Once you chose and wrote the sentences you like just hit 'Save as...' and save it as whatever.ahk (make sure the extension tab at the bottom of the save menu is set to 'All files' so your file is saved as an 'ahk' extension file)

From then on you just have to open double click this script whenever you start your computer, and voila, you can copy and paste with the shortcut of your choice (let me know if you need more help and I'll do as much as I can )
