Ok I'd have to put some thought into that, I might get back to you, but just google something. Shouldn't be too hard to find, something you like depends on you.

It has to be at least 2 minutes, from a published play, and can't be something we've gone over in class. So Othello and a lot of shakespeare is out, Oedipus and Antigone, Wiating for Godot, Tartuffe, and a few others.

I don't know many playwrights, I mostly read screenplays, novels, and shorts. A good Google search could probably give you a massive list of possible plays.

Shakespeare and violence go hand in hand, and you might have to ask to see if it's allowed. There's so many soliloquies with his work, I'm assuming it wouldn't be hard to find one of his lesser-known plays.
User avatar #5026 - neonnurse (10/29/2014) [-]
True, but I have a feeling she doesn't want to see shakespeare being used based on how much we discuss most of his works in class. We haven't discussed Titus Andronicus, and I don't know if we are in the future so that's why I really want to find a back up soon in case she shoots the idea down.

What about Shakespeare's other works? Hamlet? King Lear?
User avatar #5024 - neonnurse (10/29/2014) [-]
I doubt it, she wants something that isn't as widely known. There is one of shakespeare's plays that caught my interest in the plot from the sheer amount of gratuitous violence, Titus Andronicus, but I don't know it it has a 2-3 minute speech or that the teacher will let me choose it.

I had to read a section of Virgil's Aeniad for Uni shit the other day. Specifically I read Book 6, lines 752-897. Yes, thats very specific. But still. Might be good if you wanna do something about ROME.

Try No Exit or Waiting for Godot. Both are existentialist plays that will impress your teacher. If you don't like those, do Death of a Salesman.
User avatar #5030 - neonnurse (10/29/2014) [-]
Well I'm about 83.5% we are going to be reading Waiting for Godot at some point in this semester but I'll find out. No Exit sounds interesting though, so maybe. Thanks.

Othello's not so bad. I haven't read much from old texts but I'd say go with that one.
User avatar #5022 - neonnurse (10/29/2014) [-]
"It can't be Othello, Antigone, Oedipus, Tartuffe, and a few others but I'm not sure what ones." It has to be one that we haven't read or discussed in great depth in class.
