Calorie restriction is a trap. It just starts a cycle of starving and binge eating.
Any weight you lose through restricting calories, will come back.
That is why the diet industry, is an industry. It is not lucrative to tell people to eat unlimited amounts on a low-fat plant based diet and be lean for the rest of your life.
All the leanest cultures on earth eat a high-carb diet.
Fat burns in the flame of carbohydrates.
The fat you eat, is the fat you wear.
For a legit lifestyle that lets you eat in abundance, go high-carb vegan.
I eat 4500-6000 calories a day and am lean year round. Keeping fat intake to less than 10 percent of overall intake.

These two key points work because it tells people good things about their bad habits and delivers measurable results.
The problem is that the weight loss comes from the body being put in an emergency mode from the absence of carbohydrates and it is always going to come back.
That is how repeat customers are made in the diet industry.
It is a diet that has proven to be very unhealthy and increase the risk factor for heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes.
While disease is accumulating in your body, short term, your quality of life decreases dramatically. Your brain function suffers, you produce less serotonin, you have lower quality sleep, you become constipated and smelly. To maintain people always fall back on stimulants because it gives you such low energy levels. No coincidence that paleo people love a cup of coffee.
When people crave carbs, it is because the human body, every cell, runs on glucose.
A high-carbohydrate diet is suited to our physiology. The brain runs exclusively on glucose.
Considering that meat is low in carbs and causes disease it has no place in a healthy diet. It is also fattening and cannot be eaten in unlimited portions. Unlike low fat plant foods.
Portion control is only needed if the food you are eating is unsuitable.
You never have to restrict fruit or rice.
The paleo diet is a recipe for depression, drug addiction, degenerative disease and embarrassment.

It is still possible to have a high carb intake on a paleo diet. Fruits, potatoes, corn - just no wheat
Also, what do you think about the "vegans" who don't follow a proper vegan diet, and eat a lot of junk-food, like candy, excessive breads/pastries, sodas, etc, and don't touch meat or anything with fat in it?
And yeah, portion control is only necessary if a person is eating shitty food.

She then changed her diet to a fruit based high carb vegan diet.
She lost 40 pounds, but it took her a few years and now she is lean with a very healthy metabolism.
She lost that weight eating over 3000 calories a day and being consistent.
You need to put in the time to heal your metabolism so that you can be lean for the rest of your life and get off the starving and binging loop.

There is no paleo diet. The humans of that era ate very differently depending where they lived.
It is just an image used for marketing.
If you were eating fruit as the majority of your calories it would be closer to humans origical diet as a frugivore, the way we ate for 60 million years. Not paleo.
I think vegans that eat a lot of junk food are not setting a good example. They just show that you can care about animals and still not look after yourself.
All the vegans I know stand out because they are so healthy. Glowing skin, bright white eyes, healthy hair and nails, lean. They all eat fruit based diets primarily and a lot of them are elite athletes....
I prefer to look amazing because it appeals to people's self interest when they know that they can look so much better going vegan.

I hang out with people who are vegans The positive kind, No meat/animal products, no junk food, and some others besides myself who eat "paleo" Avoiding breads, processed foods, and (usually) dairy
Both groups seem to be much healthier than the average person who is hooked on Mcdonalds, cigarettes, and energy drinks.
But, I've noticed a difference.
My friends (and myself) are more better at heavy lifting and have more defined musculature, while my vegan friends have kickass cardio and are much more lean.

Fucked up state of affairs when fast foods and toxic drugs are normal.....
The main difference being is that the vegans have a higher quality of life, are not at risk of several degenerative diseases and are also ethical.
They would be leaner if they were sedentary due to the low fat content of their diet.
However their fitness reflects the sport they have chosen, if they decided to lift heavy weights they could surpass your level of strength.
If anything Paleo is a stepping stone from McDonalds, to something legitimately healthy, which is a whole food plant based diet.
Timothy Shief is one of the worlds best at parkour and eats a fruit based diet. Although vegans that are more serious about lifting do eat a higher protein diet.

I was going to waste time posting: why the China study is not a credible source, the difference between causation and correlation and how Dr. Campbell is ignorant to the concept, statistical significance in an observational study, the many instances in which his book has been poorly received by fellow doctors and researchers, why animal models can't be taken as divine truth (some of China study cancer research), the China study is a book that only references the China-Cornell-Oxford Project, then end it with 30-bananas-a-day girl and durianrider bashing until I saw your post history.

Ketosis kills red blood cells and is an immunological suppressant.
Paleo is fundamentally atkins under a different marketing image.
Again there is overwhelming clinical science supporting the understanding that low carb diets cause disease and that meat has no place in a healthy diet.

For the record, I don't follow paleo, atkins, or vegan crap. They are all just forms of extremes when it comes to dieting. Each thing has its merits and choosing one extreme is a mistake, not to mention bioindividuality. One thing will work for everyone.

Cortisol and adrenaline are released to initiate the conversion of fats and proteins into a usable fuel. To prevent your heart to stop beating.
Animal products cause disease. They have no place in a healthy diet.
Fruit based vegan diets are well balanced.
Low-fat vegan diets are used to clinically reverse heart disease and diabetes.

Every cell in the human body runs on glucose.
Meat causes disease.
That does not change from person to person.

Had to read up on it but here's what I got from it. You start your attack phase which is pretty much ketosis. Then a cruise phase which is ketosis + non-starchy vegetables. Followed by the consolidation and stablization phase which are pretty much the same thing at low-carb + vegi's (minimal starchy vegi's) + minimal fruit. All while following a strict set of rules about the foods you can and can not eat, while saying you can eat as much of it as you want. Also requires cardio.
pros: Results will be fast (but there is a catch which I'll post below). It's not that hard to follow, just strict on what you can eat. You will more than likely hit your targeted weight or more.
cons: Although results are fast, what you lose in first phase isn't entirely fat, but mostly water and glycogen so progress will slow down dramatically. The diet can make you incredibly tired for a while. It has too many unnecessary food rules. You could get the same results by following a ketogenic diet for a while then switching to maintenance calories or low-carb diet w/ re-feed days.
It's not a nutritious diet at all so you will have to take some kind of multivitamin. I wouldn't worry about the "potential" kidney stress unless you already have kidney problems (there is a lot of misinformation about high protein diets and kidney function). I've seen worse diets out there but there are easier ways to get the same results. All the guy did was make a spin on the keto diet that doesn't require counting macronutrients (fats, carbs, and proteins) and weans you off of it slowly, but in the process adds a bunch of rules that you follow forever.... literally, since the stabilization phase is supposed to be followed for life. I give it a C+ for being the lazy persons keto and having too many crap rules.
When I did a ketogenic diet I got the leanest I've ever been but I felt like crap doing it.
