>You sound like your limit was at 0 to begin with
Over first seven episodes biggest amount of character development was when he "saved" (read pulled out of the pilot capsule) the clone of his mum out of the mech.
That is it. He was still being a wimp about everything.
>not going to basic training after the first battle
Wrong words from my side. I meant actual boot camp. A lot of his issues could be solved with simple military training AND TALKING.
>abandoned by his dad
by age of 14 the kid should be fucking furious at his dad. At very least he would realize by now that his dad is an asshole. And that a lot of his issues can be talked through.

The things that don't add up the most is that some characters don't even talk to each other.

ALL he had TO DO was TALK with his dad. That would have solved a lot more problems then him bitching around on the battlefield.

>Trying to make him have a "normal" life even if he is one of only 3 people on planet that can control the mech.
>Not inflating his ego and making him a soldier.

His constant running away is what pisses me off. And when I am angry I can't watch the show. It took me two and a half weeks for 6 episodes because that is how much he pisses me off. I never wanted a fictional character more dead in my life than shinji.

He's a 14 year old kid, not BigMan-McGruff. You're expecting way too much, plus he did more than that in just the 7 episodes
>I meant actual boot camp. A lot of his issues could be solved with simple military training AND TALKING.
Debatable, but considering what it actually takes for him to get over his mental issues, I doubt it.
>ALL he had TO DO was TALK with his dad. That would have solved a lot more problems then him bitching around on the battlefield.
He was probably afraid of his father, and afraid to attempt to talk out his issues with him. Considering how much alike they both are, that probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere anyway.
>Trying to make him have a "normal" life even if he is one of only 3 people on planet that can control the mech.
His whole class were possible candidates to be children, he was just one of the first couple of choices.
>Not inflating his ego and making him a soldier.
That goes completely against SEELE and Gendo's plans.
>His constant running away is what pisses me off. And when I am angry I can't watch the show. It took me two and a half weeks for 6 episodes because that is how much he pisses me off. I never wanted a fictional character more dead in my life than shinji.
You don't seem to have much patience.

My tolerance for BS from fictional characters is low. IRL I have moderate temper but human stupidity triggers my reaction.
Anyway. From my friends filling in on the subject it boils down to people not talking about their problems with others and most of them being cowards. General depression thread #infinitum.

Supposedly the end of evangelion has good music and visual. Hopefully it is true if I watch it because that is the only redeemable quality of it.
And dear god if the supposed ending is the choice of human unity or human diversity and shiji chooses human diversity I will be pissed. We could have had progress and evolution but he fucked us over.
User avatar #63 - nathanbiggs (07/04/2014) [-]
Human unity, aka Instrumentality, is no progress. It's addressed in the movie pretty heavily.
User avatar #64 - alphabetagama (07/04/2014) [-]
When you are god there is no progress left because there is nothing left after perfection.
User avatar #65 - nathanbiggs (07/04/2014) [-]
You're slightly misinterpreting what instrumentality is. Humanity doesn't necessarily gain control of Lilith and become gods. Their souls just swish around in the LCL for eternity, exploring each other's minds. No happiness, no sadness, no human emotion. Lilith is then free to do her on thing. In this, there is no progress for humanity. We are just going back to where we came from.

Eternal peace as one eh?
Still better than current world.

Which means we end our role as pawns in this game of chess of higher beings.

There are some movies, that cut out like 80% of the "Get in the fucking robot"/Depression dance of death. think they are called Evangelion 1.0/2.0/3.0 #rd one is weird though
User avatar #97 - nathanbiggs (07/05/2014) [-]
They also cut out 90% of what made the anime good and just left the action sequences, which rely too much on CGI. 1.11 was good, 2.22 was good aside from Mari and that god awful ending, and 3.33 does not have a dub released yet. They can't really compare to the original series, especially not the Original 25/26+EoE Aside from the quality of the dub, which has improved a lot.

Maybe for you, but for me it was what made the show great. If Evangelion was just a normal Mecha Anime it would have faded into the background like all the other Mecha Animes from the same time period.

1.0 and 2.0 were good. a whole lot better than the original series. And also you don't have to deal with the anticlimactic ending of the original series. Which was the biggest disappointment since Moses led his people into the "promised land" (a desert) for 40-odd years

Influential doesn't mean it's good. Its mediocre at best...it's watchable but how it inspired future Mech Anime is beyond me.

It's only well known because the director had a nervous breakdown during production so he started putting in weird shit...and weeaboos claim the show is good because of it.

>Influential doesn't mean it's good.
I agree
> Its mediocre at best...it's watchable but how it inspired future Mech Anime is beyond me.
I don't agree, I just watched it last year and it was still fantastic. End of Evangelion alone makes the series worth watching. Evangelion was a deconstruction of the mecha genre of the time, if you don't have experience with that genre obviously you aren't going to see why it was influential.
>It's only well known because the director had a nervous breakdown during production so he started putting in weird shit..
Anno's depression occurred prior to the production of NGE as far as I know. He did become disheartened by the current "otaku" scene that was developing and that influenced some of the messages in the later part of the series. Plus I honestly liked the weird shit, makes it stand out from the normal mecha anime of the time.
>.and weeaboos claim the show is good because of it.
Mostly people claim it's good because they like it, it is one of the better animes I've watched.

You sound like your limit was at 0 to begin with. He's no where near that bad and most of the time at that point in the show Shinji's actions are pretty understandable.
>not going to basic training after the first battle

Wikipedia just ambiguously states that the Halo IP would remain Microsoft's after Bungie went independent, no mention about when they acquired the IP. Both Halopedia and Halo Nation state that "On October 5, 2007, Bungie and Microsoft announced an end to their partnership, effectively making Bungie an independent company once again, now titled Bungie LLC (limited liability corporation). The Halo Intellectual Property (IP) remains with Microsoft." Meaning that the owner of the IP was Microsoft prior to Bungie's announcement of the fact that they were going independent. Circling back to the original point, it still wouldn't be Bungie that would give the "okay" to make the MC collection. That would be Microsoft's call, and that's not debatable.

ok let me explain you something. the team that made halo 1 "bungie team" still has rights to halo 1-3 a company cannot just buy a name and say here is your 2$ fuck off. no they have to pay the original owner a percentage. yes bungie sold their ip to microsoft. after halo 3 which is when bungie stopped making halo. the ip was sold. microsoft acquired bungie in 2000. however the original 3 belong to bungie. there is a exclusive offer to microsoft for these games however. which means bungie still own the rights to these games. after halo 3 bungie broke off from microsoft giving the rights to the name halo, but not the original 3. those are microsoft and bungie owned. l2read buisness section of your newspaper. i know what the hell i am talking about. this means halo1, halo2, halo wars, and halo 3 cannot be touched without the consent of both microsoft and bungie. the rights to games afterwards belong to whoever are making the current shitty games and microsoft. unless they were contracted by microsoft to dish out shovel ware. which they are by microsoft who was given rights to make new halo games by bungie.

>ok let me explain you something. the team that made halo 1 "bungie team" still has rights to halo 1-3 a company cannot just buy a name and say here is your 2$ fuck off.
The original acquisition of Bungie included Microsoft buying the Halo IP from Bungie, do I need to be more clear about this. Bungie. Does. Not. Own. The. Halo. IP.

> after halo 3 which is when bungie stopped making halo. the ip was sold. microsoft
Microsoft acquired Halo in 2000 when they bought Bungie, plus Bungie didn't stop making Halo until after Reach. Two entire games later.

>however the original 3 belong to bungie
They never belonged to Bungie, each one was published by and owned by Microsoft. Bungie just made them, the same way 343i just makes them.

>after halo 3 bungie broke off from microsoft giving the rights to the name halo, but not the original 3.
You just keep proving that you are ignorant of the situation. Bungie broke off from Microsoft and stopped making Halo games after Halo:Reach, not Halo 3.

ok let me explain you something. the team that made halo 1 "bungie team" still has rights to halo 1-3 a company cannot just buy a name and say here is your 2$ fuck off. no they have to pay the original owner a percentage. yes bungie sold their ip to microsoft. after halo 3 which is when bungie stopped making halo. the ip was sold. microsoft acquired bungie in 2000. however the original 3 belong to bungie. there is a exclusive offer to microsoft for these games however. which means bungie still own the rights to these games. after halo 3 bungie broke off from microsoft giving the rights to the name halo, but not the original 3. those are microsoft and bungie owned. l2read buisness section of your newspaper. i know what the hell i am talking about. this means halo1, halo2, halo wars, and halo 3 cannot be touched without the consent of both microsoft and bungie. the rights to games afterwards belong to whoever are making the current shitty games and microsoft. unless they were contracted by microsoft to dish out shovel ware. which they are by microsoft who was given rights to make new halo games by bungie.

>ok let me explain you something. the team that made halo 1 "bungie team" still has rights to halo 1-3 a company cannot just buy a name and say here is your 2$ fuck off.

Bungie broke off from Microsoft and stopped making Halo games after Halo:Reach, not Halo 3.

> i know what the hell i am talking about.

>this means halo1, halo2, halo wars, and halo 3 cannot be touched without the consent of both microsoft and bungie
Halo Wars wasn't even made by Bungie.

when microsoft bought them out it was literally a contract fucking deal arsewipe. it was a deal to make this game for them as bungie/ microsoft ip. activision was originally trying to get their hands on this shit, but failed because bungie saw them as a shovel ware company. at the time xbox was considered a serious gaming device concept.

User avatar #408 - nathanbiggs (06/29/2014) [-]
Because Microsoft bought the rights to the games prior to publishing them. This has been common knowledge for a while. Microsoft bought the IP from Bungie prior to CE and contracted Bungie to make 5 games, that contract ending after the release of Halo: Reach.
User avatar #410 - hellsjester (06/29/2014) [-]
microsoft owned exclusive rights when bungie worked for them not ip. ip was given after bungie left.
User avatar #409 - hellsjester (06/29/2014) [-]

User avatar #411 - nathanbiggs (06/29/2014) [-]

User avatar #398 - nathanbiggs (06/28/2014) [-]
You realize they aren't changing anything aside from the resolution and framerate, right? To call the MC Collection "Call of Duty MCC Edition" is just ignorant and uninformed. Call Halo 4 "Call of Halo", hell call Halo 5 "Call of Halo" (even though from what's known they are going back to a more arena style), but don't call the MCC "Call of Halo".
User avatar #399 - hellsjester (06/28/2014) [-]
they can't unless bungie okays it and i am pretty sure that bungie wont approve someone else making money off their ip. so like i said let it rest in peace.

Halo has not been Bungie's IP for over a decade. When Microsoft acquired Bungie back in 2000 they also bought the Halo IP.
