Since you look like you know, why are nomimono and sukiyaki in katakana, while dezaato is in hiragana?

dezaato
dessert
the word dezaato came from a different language, that's what they use katakana for
you have your katakana and hiragana mixed up btw, the first two are in hiragana not katakana

I know they're different at least. I can read hiragana, but not katakana. That shit's stupid. But whatevs, now I know one difference between kata and hira. When it's engrish.

lol, that's what everyone said in the first year of Japanese
i took 3 years of it in highschool, it was pretty cool. once you get past learning hiragana and katakana it's easier
juust kidding, then you have to memorize kanji.

Kanji is why I quit that. I instantly realized why the Japanese are considered smart: from birth, their language is just memorization. So for now, I'm satisfied with, I think it's called furigana or something, and google translate.

eh, the teacher taught us the kanji for kintama which is slang for testicles so i was okay with it.

I know exactly what kintama stands for. Thanks, Gintama. Helping out various translator groups with manga help me learn the romaji for words. Though the only Kanji I know are child, woman, and rape. In hindsight, that's an odd combo.
