Uh... Gengar is the ghost. Purple, with spikes, from Gen 1. Evolved from Ghastly -> Haunter -> Gengar. Not sure what you mean, considering the endless supply of Pokemon at hand now. Lol.

As for where to find Marowak, you can only find it in Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Otherwise you have to evolve it from Cubone. Cubone can be found in HG, SS, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.

Areas for Marowak:

HG and SS: Rock Tunnel 2F, Safari Zone, and Pokewalker [Scary Cave]

For any other info you need on where to find Pokemon, I suggest using Pokemon Marriland. It tells you everything you need to know about any Pokemon. I'll link you right to Marowak.

My starter was a grass type. I go for appearances, not power. So even if a Pokemon is rather weak, if it looks nice enough, I'll nab it. Most powerful pokemon do look good though, like Absol and Gengar~

But yes, N is the guy with the green hair who challenges you from time to time. I don't want to spoil anything for you, however, so I can't really go into detail about why he's amazing. But play on, and you'll know for yourself. I haven't talked to anyone who played Black and White who didn't like N.

Risky move. Using only one Pokemon can be dangerous when you advance to harder Gyms and eventually the Elite 4/N/Ghetis.

If your main Pokemon got wiped out on an enemy Pokemon with a sufficiently better move set than your own, then what will you use as a Backup?

I believe I did what you did on either Diamond and Pearl, which I no longer own. I ended up having to find new Pokemon and train them till they were the same level as my main.
