>Professors giving a shit what you do outside of lectures/classes
Professors only care about you during these things
Get your ass there and listen if it's mandatory
Don't be disruptive during lecture
Don't be disruptive during class
>Handing in assignments
Explain properly what the fuck you've done
>Hands on experiments
Show them and that's it, Maybe they´ll be leniant and help you on the way for these things
Can't think of a single professor I've heard of that's keepin tabs on people missing lectures. They're there to teach, if you're not there during the lectures it's on you.
Ever tried online classes? They really show how little a professor is actually needed to absorb the material.
I don't even know what my pre-calculus professor looks like, but I've got a 85.
community college is required attendance if you miss 4 class periods, you can't go beyond a D. except you fags never count it as real college.
Dude I know some guys who skipped like half the fucking classes, and got into the top two at graduation, just fucking read the textbooks and do the work
Checking in as an individual who attended The first and last day of each class for my last 2-3 years of college and graduated top of my class.
Damn what fucking college do you go to because all of my professors have absence policies with autofail after a certain number.
My college is the best public one in the state and for my major, though.
Depends on the classes and the major
Some of my classes now I can miss for over half the semester
Others my professors take attendance and will autofail you at like 5 absences
Its a rough life
I don't get more than two or three in most classes before my grades fall.
They don't care as long as you learn the material and do the assignments. The only reason to show up for most lectures is cause they'll either dock/reward extra marks for attendance or cause you need assistance/tutoring.
If it's a big lecture hall, nobody will care. I've had several classes in smaller settings where participation in discussions counted for points, and ONE class that was not in seminar format that gave me bonus points for showing up to 32 out of 35 lectures. The last one was a matter of respect to the professor putting his lectures together (and they were superb; he's quite the entertainer) and incentive to keep us on track.
Lucky you. At my school you miss more than a set number of classes your grades fall and/or you fail. They don't give a fuck what you do during allotted excuses but your ass better be there after 2 or 3.
One teacher lets us have 6, but she'll mark you absent if you have your phone, don't have your books, or don't have your homework.
The reason for this is that at my school, class sizes are typically very small
It's a good college, small and student-oriented, getting in is hard considering it's a public school
and your attendance is critical for you to complete your assigned work.
I showed up to every single lecture, so attendance policies didn't affect me much. I'm the type of student who needs to be there and take notes to do well; going only on textbooks doesn't help me without lectures to go with reading.
