Sure Super paper mario was about the whole universe getting destroyed, (heck it actually happened in Super mario Galaxy, but Rosalina did a system restore), but the tone just seemed light hearted and kinda silly overall, even though there was frequent death and murder, creepy ass villians (I.e. Mimi and the underwhere hands), antichrist allegories, etc. In TTYD, you really felt the darkness try to consume you.

That is so true! I never really thought about it until now but holy cow that game was dark. Mimi is actually my favorite sidekick and the reason alone is the fact she is so dark and mysterious and kicks ass at it. Just out of curiosity, what were the antichrist allegories? Was it the Princess turning evil or something?

Actually it's a leg exercise, I'm sure you were joking, but just in case.

I dunno, I know if I was born deaf, and my parents decided to get me implants to let me hear, I'd be extremely happy for their decision. Being able to hear is wonderful, and I would be able to learn speech early enough to be proficient at it. I would be able to get into the work force and the number and types of jobs available to me wouldn't be limited. I would be much more aware of my surroundings, and be able to experience everything the world has to offer acoustically. There is literally no downside to being able to hear over not. Aside from not being in an apparently dickish community.

No, the deaf community is wrong. Being deaf is a handicap whether or not they want to admit it. They aren't "different" their anatomy is wrong and their ears do not properly work.

That's great that they have a community, but who are they to dictate other's lives because they were born a certain way? Sounds like some extremely hypocritical shit. "We're gonna support you as long as you stay handicapped with us because we see it as a gift".

Exactly! I'm hard of hearing and by hard of hearing I mean a severe fucking loss on both ears. Without hearing aids I wouldn't be able to go to a normal school and have as much as a normal life. Why should people want others to sacrifice having a better quality of life just so you can be in a "special community"? Goddamnit I'm fucking pissed

The vast majority of deaf people, at least from my experience, want to experience hearing. Here, this lady is saying that this shouldn't be an opportunity whatsoever. What part of that is justification? It's not like you can't have religion alongside science. It was actually taught to me that God made a science a gift to his children. I don't understand why people can't just allow them to coexist because on the internet, they're opposite concepts apparently.

First semester of an ASL class right here. With everything I've learned in my class so far I totally agree with you. By the way, I've seen a full on sign argument between a few Deaf people who were talking about cochlear implants. They were signing incredibly fast, hands were flying everywhere. I could only pick up pieces of what they were signing. Luckily I had a veteran signer with me who also used her voice.
