Seriously, I like to know how other people build their parties. I do this:

Blaziken
Swampert (if possible, otherwise Wailord/Tentacruel)
Gardevoir/Alakazam
Crobat/Altaria
Cacturne
freespace - HM slave or Flygon if I can't get Swampert in the game.

I lucked out with Gen 6 since I got a Torchic in Pokemon Y, so I traded over a couple of eggs and happened to get a Torchic with speed boost.

so a pokemon with a 4x weakness is automatically shitty? welp, someone tell Bisharp, Dragonite, Magnezone and Gyarados they're all bad and getting dropped to PU
User avatar #105 - murphypop (12/02/2014) [-]
All except for Magnezone have pretty decent speed stats, and Magnezone has Magnet Rise, as well as Ground type moves being predominantly physical. I definitely still use 4x weakness Pokemon (Cacturne & bug type, Swampert & grass type), but I definitely make sure I have the bases covered as much as possible.

Water Damage does 3x to a Camerupt if he has Solid Rock.
User avatar #86 - Lainge (12/01/2014) [-]
Oh no, a pokemon specifically geared for speed is faster than a pokemon specifically geared to be slow.
What a surpr- wait?
What is that?
Trick Room?
Ooooooooohhhhh Nooooooooooooooooooooo.
#88 - murphypop (12/01/2014) [-]
Oh, I guess your right. Let me just check at what level Camerupt learns Trick Room.
Huh, not there. Let me check the TM list. What? Can't learn it that way either? But surely breeding will...nope.

And 3x weakness and the second turn is enough for me to prefer a weaker water type than Swampert over a weaker fire type than Blaziken. They just didn't give that many options.

What's your usual team?

Because you'd be an idiot to pick Torchic over Camerupt.
User avatar #85 - murphypop (12/01/2014) [-]
Speed, motherfucker. Not only does Blaziken have better base Attack and Special Attack, but Camerupt's base speed is 40, lower than all fully evolved water types in gen 3. This means that it will never have the first move, and it's 4x weakness will always make it shitty.

Blaziken, on the other hand, has a base Speed of 80 and no 4x weaknesses, which means it is much sturdier, faster, and all around better.
#104 - juandibbles (12/02/2014) [-]

with that roll system, and maybe a more fleshed out im system (current one kinda sucks) it might be possible to run small dnd games on funnyjunk, which would be great for the dungeon and drags channel because its always filled with ppl who want to learn but they see what looks like so much work and get scared, cuz to start you really just need to decide what you want to play then only learn that, so don't worry how wizards work you're a fighter, and don't worry bout elves and dwarves, you only need to know Halfling traits and the soilder background etc etc
but idk im pretty new to dnd myself, Dndexplain people always seem to hit you up bout this also thank you for telling me about roll20.net great site your thoughts?
User avatar #381 - murphypop (11/25/2014) [-]
If you've never seen or heard a game played, I suggest checking out my picture. It's a DnD podcast from comedian Brian Posehn with his old DnD group. Just start at the beginning, and you'll see how a great session can go.

www.earwolf.com/show/nerd-poker/

I think there are three or four things that we'd need from Funnyjunk to run a game.
1. The roll system
2. "Update-able" and easy to access character sheets that are somehow linked to profiles.
3. A messenger system with a separate display for game actions from conversation, or else the games will get pretty dull. Ideally, we could have an audio chat room with a text chat going for the commands.
4. (Depending on version) Maps. For simplicity, the DM could just keep a copy of the map and tell the players, but it would be useful to be able to upload images to give the players basic info like notes from NPC's or maps they found in the dungeon.
