amuzen (01/03/2015) [-] there are wizards are born from completely muggle lines as well like Hermione, although one could argue she might have a witch/wizard further back in her family line than her family was actually aware of. Personally I like to think that magic is just kind of 'alive', like to some extent magic was composed of raw emotion or something and that some people were just more favored than others. I say this mostly because the effects as well the mechanics are kind of vague and seem to be based more on emotion than they actually are on intelligence, but still require the amount of specifics that one would have to use to explain to someone else what they want. I'm not talking like a singular great cosmic entity alive either, I'm thinking more like a bunch of tiny little spirits or something.

DrewRSmith (01/02/2015) [-] The father of all dragons, said to be the largest dragon to have ever existed. Gandalf may have seen him, however Eärendil and the Eagles joined forces to defeat him. The only inference of size is that he destroyed the towers of Thangorodrim when he was thrown upon them, which are the 3 mountain peaks in this pic. But then it's "how" it destroyed the Towers of Thangorodrim, it could have clashed into the sides of them having them collapse over him or land on top of them and the extra weight was to much for them to hold so they collapsed cause of that, also some people debating Tolkien was meaning that the two towers fell when he was defeated cause the forces could not attack them without the dragon stopping them. Why cant Tolkien be alive and tell us, DAMMIT! Sorry, Father of the winged dragons. You are right, Glaurung is the father of all dragons. Morgoth was the father of all dragons since he created them, Ancalagon was merely the biggest and first among the flying dragons. Still the biggest single creature to ever exist but hey. Morgoth bred them, but Glaurung was the father of all dragons, and Ancalagon was the father of the winged dragons.

FiddySpense (01/02/2015) [-] To steal is to go directly into a person's personal space and snatch a product. If you left your phone in a public place and I take it, I did not steal it. I found it. To me, an example of cyber stealing would be to hack into itunes and bypass the purchase process to get the download. For me to go to be web surfing and come across that same product is not stealing it, but simply finding it elsewhere. No real crime here.

| I still think that mine may be plausible. Due to the sheer amount of time that they had to spend with him. But you are right in that there are other reasons for them being little shits. Wish I knew more about how magic worked in that story though. Its all very vague. Hence *magic* i guess you gotta remember its a kids book, if jk Rowling went deep into how magic works, itd be boring for a kid, and it'd just raise more questions for the adult audience. but basically, its the same thing that decides whether youre eyes are blue, or brown. genetics. it can be a recessive gene, which explains muggle born wizards. #12 -

anon (01/02/2015) [-] I love the irony of that scene as Faramir could have gone and joined the fellowship and would've not betrayed the group as he showed later on that he could let Frodo go and do his duty. Something Boromir couldn't. Great scene.
