Essentially if a woman is around men who all have beards and shit they prefer clean shaves, and same thing with clean shaven men being the status quo.

I don't think shaving will really ever have the manly lable, beards have been generally considered manly for pretty much ever excluding very particular civilizations in the past.

soldiers shave, and they are the manliest men around. clean shaven until recent years was a staple of attractiveness, all male models were clean shaven, pretty much all high pay jobs were "sort of" required to be clean shaven, not as a solid rule but as a sorta "you don't have to shave, but if you don't we'll fire you for being unclean"which pushed the idea that clean shaven = successful clean person and beards have been associated with uncleanness, because the majority people who had facial hair in the alte 20th century were low pay laborers, and homeless people, hippies whom are all generally not clean individuals, normally look scruffy and tend to be outcasts. so facial hair got a label as being a sign of poverty, women don't want a poor man, so the clean shave man is seen as more attractive


however beards came back because of TV and somewhat hipsters, tv shows had alot of men, like warriors or tough guys, who were sporting beards, suddenly beards weren't "a sign of poverty" but were "fucking warriors man!" and hipsters began having beards as to stick out from the clean shaven majority, the variations of styles showed the general public that beards arent scruffy , but can be styled to enhance a persons looks, it can make your cheek bone more defined, it can line your face to look bigger and tougher, and so beards have become more widely accepted. also our culture has become very 2 dimentional, everyone dresses the same and looks the same, beards are an outcasts symbol, so people who want to be more individualistic, lept at growing a beard and having a style unique to themselves, they could now be noticed for having a curled moustache, or for having an epic braided beard, or a doom rider stache.

now we have models with beards, higher up jobs are more accepting to facial hair although its usually only neat facial hair so no neckbeards or patchy stuble people. so over time beards will be a normal thing in society and more and more people will have beards, then clean shaven people will be put down, which they already are getting put down on, i mean how often do you hear "no beard? not a man"
its common for people who dont want a beard to be called boys or women, this leads to more people being peer pressured into having facial hair, and BOOM everyones got a beard, so now its a cultural norm. so how do young people rebel from society? they shave! they sport a look that nobody else has to be noticed the shaven look is seen as being individualistic and so the whole process begins again.

is it the white blood cells that degrade it? i figured it would just be uv exposure which made it fade, as well as skin growth and such. Uv would not be a factor since vampires cant be exposed to it anyways, but i would guess it would grow out and like you said get absorbed over the years. So maybe it would only last for awhile, maybe a few decades.

uv effects it too, but a tattoo becomes dull over time because your body reacts to it because essentially it shouldn't be there, so white blood cells attack the bits of ink and absorb them into your body, but it takes years and years, thats why tattoos that are 30+ years old look faded and dark.
