I'm twisting things into reality. Your religion of Christianity is dying, only exceptions are in third world countries and Eastern Europe, and I'm trying to say that religion is not needed anymore for spiritualistic needs.

In order to save yourselves, you need to lead the example of the Muslims. Religion must play a big force in society through dogma lest it loses importance in people's lives and dies. I'm not saying religious governments, but religion must not liberalize. Do not turn into what the OP represented or you may one day tell your grandchildren of the death of the Christian, "fairly tail," as they learned in school.

there are no other interpretations of the Bible that are correct outside of the literal interpretations
Not anymore. In the modern era, you are telling me you wish to have Christianity become an abstract set of kindergarten rules? That worked in the old times simply because most people were illiterate and followed teachings by oral interpretations. For this religion to become something like the below, it will differ not an iota from other spiritualistic religions or believes. The reason why Islam is gaining so much ground in the modern era is because it is anything but liberalized.

"no stealing"
"everybody is friends here"

See, this is an example of someone who is ignorant of what happened with literal interpretations. The Church happened, yes, people were illiterate, but the common public was forced to follow the literal interpretation by law. Anyways, Christianity wouldn't be an "abstract set of kindergarten rules" if all the fake rules applied by those in power to stay ahead hadn't happened. Frankly, if Paul's teachings had remained, then Christianity would be a much more pleasant religion, because Christians didn't quarrel as you think they would.

Oh, and pray tell, what do you mean only a Literal Interpretation would work? Under that idea, you should stone any woman who is in public uncovered, and you have permission to rape whoever you damn well please. It honestly sounds like you're trying to twist things to fit how you want to live.

You are failing to see that people are not as primitive as they once were. To create and maintain Christianity among the West, the Church needs to show a firm standing in its ideology which cannot be changed. The Bible cannot be rewritten to say that homosexuality isn't vice, for instance.

With this new generation, most are becoming irreligious, or, if religious, just in name like all of these "Christians" on here.
User avatar #819 - mrtwilightsparkle (04/16/2013) [-]
You basically just said that there are no other interpretations of the Bible that are correct outside of the literal interpretations. Sure, diversifying can be bad, such as Gnosticism, but it is required. It really is not primitive to have a basic understanding of Christianity to follow, if anything, it could make things more harmonious. The lack of specific rules to argue over creates less conflict and less stress of following your religion. Up until the rise of the Roman Catholic Church, being a Christian was difficult in its own rights, however actually following your faith and committing acts of Christianity are not difficult. In truth, the only parts of Christianity that were truly Christianity before it was tainted were generosity, loyalty, communion, and a few key parts of the Old Testament, such as love thy neighbor and things such as that. Many conservative Christians fail to see that the Bible is not a modern book, and many topics were written to address problems from the Biblical Era (Such as Women not speaking in Church)
