 I'm talking about the current release, o-owar-owari something monogatari. I'm diligently watching the TV releases, but I may rewatch it when the BD gets released. Right. Still haven't seen that. That's one of the reasons why I've been contemplating rewatching the series. I don't really remember that much about what happens near the end. Monogatari is the only series that I've rewatched. | To begin with it's a rare example of an anime to begin with, one that is rather serious and mature. Second, I can't say how you'll feel about the subplot. Third, I deeply enjoyed it, but for personal reasons, this is a direct reference from the show, but I cannot say whether or not you will like it because I am not you. All that being said, it's only 11 episodes and finished airing. Watching and marathoning it off of my medicine was like a mental awakening for me, but I suppose it's nothing more than a mystery for most. I can't say I entirely agree with some of the existentialism statements in the show, but what I can say was that I found it vastly interesting and few things interest me these days Ooh I'm not too big a fan of mystery. Especially the ones that you have to think about and try to solve yourself. I watch anime as entertainment, not as food for thought. Sorry. Basically the story centers on Koyomi Araragi, a third year high school student who has recently survived a vampire attack, and finds himself mixed up with all kinds of apparitions: gods, ghosts, myths, and spirits. Oshino (the hawaiian shirt dude) is an apparation hunter that helps Araragi. After the vampire attack the vampire that attacked Araragi turned into a little girl and Oshino now takes care of her. Araragi shares a special bond with this girl. So long as she is alive, Araragi is immortal.
I think Nekomonogatari is next. It's a prequel to Bake. Centers on Hanekawa

infinitereaper (10/31/2015) [-] No, it's pretty much all cannon. The serious arcs come ever now and then but they are really just icing on the cake and make you appreciate the story more. There does appear to be an overall plot progression, however.

infinitereaper (11/01/2015) [-] A lot of episodes are stand alone, almost every episode has some sort of cultural or something reference that the episode revolves around, the really long titles are usually an indication of what. Sometimes the arcs will span several episodes. There are serious arcs every now and then as well.
Part of why I recommend subs with plenty of editors notes. You'll miss a good chunk of content if you're blind to the references and the comedy and the like.
Gintama is the best comedy anime of all time, but also quality.
